we use these on our narrowboat, where condensation on windows is inevitable in winter. They absorb all the water yet still feel dry, and saves the lovely woodwork! Worth every penny

“Disappointed
”
by Ms Munro
I was really hopefull when I purchased this product. I have a real problem on the window sill in my bedroom and at first this product did well at soaking up the water. However a couple of weeks later I noticed that mould had started growing on it. I cleaned it off and let it dry out but it has returned. Looks like I'm going to have to throw it out and look for something else.

“Great produce - no problems
”
by Kate
I purchased this in Dec/early Jan to deal with a mysterious water leak in the car (no idea exactly where the water is coming in). The carpet was actually wet to touch after it rained. We put the water eater in the footwell and it has done a great job of "eating" up the water. The carpet is better and the atmosphere in the car less damp. I have taken it into the house and dried it on the radiator twice when it felt a bit fat and heavy. I was anxious about how good it would be, as it felt pricey if it would have little impact but we are so pleased. No mould, no problems. Great product.

“Ate the water but went mouldy
”
by jane
Certainly absorbed the water from my daughters bedroom window but then went mouldy within a month. Should have bought two moisture traps for the price of one water eater!

“Mouldy water eater
”
by Graham
I agree with the other poor reviews for this product. I purchased this to ensure the window area was free of moisture in my son's nursery. After roughly one month, it is covered in mould - very disappointing. I'll dry it out and try again, but thus far, it doesn't look like money well spent.

I wish I had read the reviews on this site before buying two of these before Christmas. I have been disappointed with their effectiveness - if anything the condensation I was hoping they would help with has got worse! The window ledge just behind is still soaking wet, and the product while feeling slightly damp certainly hasn't soaked up much water in the two weeks they have been in place. I sincerely hope that Lakeland find an alternative that works, as I have never before been disappointed in a product I have bought from Lakeland. Keep searching because there is obviously a need for an affordable product to deal with condensation!

“Water eater/waste of money!
”
by Mrs ROWLANDS
Mixed reviews about this but I took a chance and bought one about 3 weeks ago, yes it soaked up water however even though I opened the window daily to air it within 4 days it went mouldy and smelt damp. Other customers have told you Lakeland about this problem yet you continue to sell, Why? Now gone into the bin. I will not rate this because it's rubbish.

“Hit and miss
”
by Mrs Freathy
We bought a water eater and it was superb and lasted us 5-6 months, allowing us to not worry about the water leaking from the shower over the bath. We were so pleased that we bought a second water eater. We could hardly believe it was the same product, within a week and a half it had gone mouldy, was leaking, smelling and stained the laminated floor, so we had to throw it out almost immediately. I'm not sure I'd buy this product again, even though it worked so well the first time. Instead I would recommend Lakelands hanging moisture absorbers, which are very effective.

“Invaluable
”
by Mrs Jordan
I have just ordered another water eater. It's one of my most valued 'gadgets' and I have never found it goes mouldy. Perhaps my condensation is not so bad. I keep one under the sink where water drips when I use the outside tap. One behind the washing machine for occasional mishaps and two on the windows sills. I just wish they looked more cheerful.

“Water Eater

I was concerned by the negative reviews when I purchased the Water Eater. However, perhaps the leak through my window is smaller. In any event, I have found the Water Eater very effective and am very happy with my purchase

“Also mouldy
”
by Louisa Fox
I bought two of these as we have a large condensation problem (thankfully my landlord is replacing the windows with double glazing). I too left one on the window sill for a couple of days.. and it went mouldy. I have one left which i can still use, but I have to remove it from the window within hours, to let it dry even though it is not fully saturated. I am going away over Christmas for a week and am not sure what I am going to be able to do to stop this problem, as I thought the water eaters would solve it...

“No recommendation
”
by Trevor Turner
Given that you have a reputation, I found that after 2 weeks all three water eaters started to develop mould, which continues on a weekly basis. So a waste of money,

“Mouldy too!
”
by Anna
I'm afraid I would not recommend this item either. It appears to absorb some moisture (or at least stops it running off the window sill), but doesn't dry out and mould builds up. Both my upstairs windows are now stained with mould which will need repainting to hide. Really disappointed because I thought I had found the answer to our condensation problems.

“Don't do it!
”
by Mrs Melissa Bromham
This product was fantastic for the first three days. It did exactly what it was suppose to do. However, on the fourth day I noticed it was going mouldy. I, therefore rung it out, cleaned it, dried it, and replaced it on the window cill. Again, within a couple of days it was mouldy. I cleaned and dried it as before. I then had to go on holiday for a week. When I returned it was covered in mould and had stained my window cill.

This water eater does exactly as described. I have two and they have solved my problems with condensation on the windows. It also makes a very good draft excluder. An absolute must have.

It works - what more can I say! We have leaky windows when the wind is in one direction and we use water eaters to make sure we dont have puddles on the floor. They are magic.
