Lakeland Egg Coddler and Poacher
Product number: 71680
Add a dash of vintage style to your breakfast or brunch with our lovely fluted coddler, which lets you poach eggs with panache.
Just crack one or two eggs into the porcelain base and sit it in a pan of near-boiling water until cooked to perfection. If you want to make your eggs extra-special you can always add cream, bacon, cheese, herbs or spices, but the glazed interior makes it non-stick so there’s no need to add anything else – not even butter for greasing. Porcelain base with stainless steel lid.
6.5cm Dia. x 10.5cm H. 150ml.

When I saw this coddler, I thought it would be ideal for slow Sunday breakfasts, when I don't have to rush. It's so easy to use, easy to clean and nowhere near as heavy as I thought, and the egg comes out perfect. Simply boil the water in the saucepan, grease the coddler with butter, crack the egg in, put the lid on and place in the boiling water - turned down to simmer, for 8-10 minutes (I like mine at 8 minutes) then turn out on to hot buttered toast. Couldn't be more simple.
I was delighted when I saw these being sold by Lakeland - I needed 2 coddlers to replace my very old Royal Worcester ones. Royal Worcester no longer make these & replacements are difficult to source . The Lakeland ones are very thin & lightweight porcelain - indeed when I placed them in the pan and added water in -one turned itself upside down !!!!???. As they are so thin the egg did cook very quickly and did not stick - but had I not have notice the upside down one before the water boiled I think removing from the pan would have been difficult to say the least.
