Doughnut Making Kit

Product number: 70495

As good as shop-bought doughnuts taste, believe it or not, home-made ones are even better – that sticky, sugary, lip-licking deliciousness really can’t be beaten. These puffy pillowcase rounds come in all sorts of flavours and varieties, and our new kit lets you easily create ring doughnuts and filled ones – it’s up to you whether you then glaze them with chocolate or fill them with custard, drizzle them with icing, sprinkle with 100s and 1000s or just scoff them straight from the oven with a simple sprinkling of sugar. Even better, unlike their deep-fried counterparts, these are baked so there’ll be less fat, fewer calories and a lot less mess. The kit enables you to bake a more traditional doughnut batter in the moulds, or roll out your mix and use the stainless steel cutter to shape the doughnuts before baking them in the oven. The moulds are made from flexible silicone so they’ll release your finished doughnuts perfectly and are easy to clean.

Kit comprises 8.5cm Dia. moulds to make 4 ring and 4 filled doughnuts plus cutter.

The Doughnut Making Kit can be used with our Baked Filled Doughnuts recipe.

"So good I bought three more sets!"

star star star star star

I've never fancied frying doughnuts, so baking them seems such a good idea. I used a recipe from a bread machine book, on the dough setting. The recipe stated that it made enough for 16, so once I had another set of moulds I was able to make a batch of ring doughnuts. I did find the bottoms didn't brown much, so for the last 3 or 4 minutes I carefully (with tongs) flipped them out of the mould & put them back in upside down to finish browning. I dipped them in a lemon juice & icing sugar wet mix as soon as I got them out of the oven, and shortly after they all disappeared!

"don't do like i did and waste money buying these"

The most disappointing thing about these is that Lakeland are willing to put their name to them. its not a kit but 2 sets of 4 silicon moulds + a doughnut cutter. No instructions on their use or recipes etc. The recipe from the web is for 8 ring type or 10 filled type, but you have 4 moulds which you have to prove the dough and cook them in so you can only make a batch of dough to do 4 at a time you make the dough for the 4 ring doughnuts to find the 'cutter' will not cut fully through the dough. doughnuts split and breadlike. 1 star for the look but feel cheated by what was a trusted seller

"How many doughnuts?"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

Firstly using the suggested recipe for Lakeland doughnuts is that the rings recipe makes 8 and the round doughnuts makes 10. I chose the filled. But there are only 4 of each moulds which isn't enough for the recipe suggested. There should be at least 10 of each type (allowing for the cut-offs to be used as well) in the kit. Also it is disappointing that there isn't a piping nozzle included as well to fill the round doughnuts with jam. If this is more expensive then so be it. Next time I will use the x8 recipe and make 4 of each to suit the kit.

"doughnut making kit"

star star star star_border star_border

Bought this kit. Great results with yeast doughnuts. What I need now is a pack of say 15-20 silicone moulds just for the filled doughnuts i.e. Those without holes. Can't seem to find a pan/ silicone moulds to make 15-20 yeast doughnuts that can all be filled with jam or custard. We prefer this type to holey doughnuts. To make just 4 at a time seems ridiculous especially using a yeast mixture as the dough would keep rising before it's all shaped and cooked! And take most of the day.

Thank you for your review. We'er happy to see you enjoy using this item. Thank you also for your suggestion for a multi tin to make more filled doughnuts. We've passed this forward to our buying team to look in to further.

"Super little set - could improve"

star star star star star

A Christmas gift I had researched and requested. I'd never made doughnuts before and didn't want to deep fry. There isn't a recipe but I found a good one which makes enough for all 8 molds. I personally think these make great doughnuts without all the frying - after all if I want fried ones I'll buy them. The kit would be improved by including a basic recipe for less confident bakers and takes the guesswork out of experimentation. It would have been good to have a mold set with 8 ring or 8 round ones but I shall be buying another set so I can do that. No sticking either, lovely kit.
