“Don't buy for marmalade making purposes!
”
by Anita
As others here have commented, these squares are too small for using when making marmalade. You are missing out on sales, Lakeland, as I for one buy my muslin squares elsewhere (I buy 24" square, hemmed muslin for £1 each - they can be washed and re used too)!

“Muslin Squares
”
by Mrs Shepherd
As mentioned by others these are far too small for marmalade. I have also requested larger squares instore. This year I have bought muslin 95cm/38in by the metre from another source which is ideal. Lakeland please take note from us 'marmaladers' and stock larger sizes.

Reviews go back 3 years asking for larger muslin.......any chance on an up-date on when/if this will be looked into by Lakeland?

“BEWARE OF FRAYING MUSLIN SQUARES
”
by Mrs Avila
Purchased pack of muslin squares for the purpose of marmalade making but unfortunately these squares fray and ruined the batch as the marmalade was contaminated with muslin threads.

“Too small for marmalade!!!
”
by Simon
As others have commented before - please make larger, or sell in two sizes. As they stand, they are inadequate for the pips and flesh for a batch of marmalade.

“Too small!
”
by Richard
These muslin squares are far too small for preserving and need to be at least double the size.

I quite agree about the size of muslin squares, far too small. I resorted to to buying a metre and cutting it up. please may we have larger ones.

“Way too small
”
by Hugo
Alas, having bought these with great glee, at around 11 inches square they are on just the wrong size for everything! Way too big to make bouquet garnis and far too small for making jam or jelly. My mistake - it's not like I don't know how large one square foot is... It's great to be able to get proper muslin for the kitchen, and I thought how convenient to have it in ready cut squares... but I will go back to buying it by the meter - or yard!

These squares are good quality but too small for all the pips etc for making Marmalade. But they are just not big enough. Could we please have some larger sizes.

“Too small for Marmalade !
”
by Philip Weatherly
Last year I bought these muslin squares since they seemed a very good price, but found them far too small at 30cm square to hold all the pips and flesh from the oranges and lemons in our recipe. Have now tried a product from another company with squares measuring 45cm. This was a perfect size. However they were much more expensive, with one square costing the same as Lakeland's pack of 10! If Lakeland could provide a larger size square of 45cm in packs of say 5 at a similar price to current product then I am sure they would corner the market.

“Crazy patchwork
”
by Barbara Southward
I know this is not the intended use but these muslin squares are just the right size as a base for crazy quilting. I make several to join together to make floor quilts for my friends granchildren. Please don't stop making them it saves me so much time in cutting out.

“Wish I had read the reviews before buying!!
”
by Christine
I recently purchased a pack of these squares from the York branch. I wish I had read the reviews first! I bought them in a hurry, never noticing the size! I agree with most other posters, they really are much too small to be of any use. I think I may attempt machine-sewing 4 squares together and see how I go. Please, Lakeland, think seriously about making them in a bigger size in future!

“Good but...
”
by Susan
They're great for straining yogurt and holding spices in curries (that you don't want in your finished dish), but far too small (as others have said) for marmalade.

“Good for seaweed!
”
by Mark Burgess
I use these when pressing seaweeds - they stop the seaweed sticking to the paper. I realise that this might not be the main use, but they are just right for it (incl. size).

“Disappointing
”
by Susanna
As other reviewers have mentioned, these muslin squares are far too small to be useful in jam making, let alone in pudding making as suggested by the picture. After washing, the squares are even smaller (due to the lack of edging) and cannot really be used again. I have been unable to think of a use for such small squares and fail to understand why Lakeland insist on selling such a useless product! Perhaps it would be possible to bring back the 18" squares and introduce a larger 24" square.

“bigger and bag shaped please
”
by Emma Harris
I agree with others that these are too small for the pips etc needed for marmalade making. The edges shred so easily that it makes them single-use only. What would be perfect is a more robust muslin bag with a pull-string closing system - that after being boiled within an inch of its life - can be thrown in the washing machine ready for the next batch. Is this a possibility??

I must agree with your other reviewers, the squares are too small when making marmalade (which I have just been doing). I am sure you sold larger ones previously?

“Oh dear
”
by Ms Littlehailes
Far too small for marmalade making, I had to use three separate squares to strain the pulp and pips. Hopeless, and the last thing you want in an already long job. Such a shame, and at this time of year too, no wonder it is not on the marmalade email. My marmalade was great though, Oxford style but with a slug of whiskey for body.
