So Usefulby Carol Hegarty

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I moved from UK to New Zealand over two years ago and brought a couple of these with me. We travel around by campervan quite often and these are so useful to have when using the campsite laundries. It saves having to carry or purchase washing powder or liquid and take up so little space in the luggage.

A good 'green' productby Mrs Peall

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I don't use it on heavily soiled washing but it does bedding etc. very well. It means the washing doesn't take as long too because I can advance the program after about 20 mins. Its money saving on detergent, conditioner, water and running-time. Reading some of the other reviews, I have never had a stale smell but then I always line-dry my washing, preferably outside. They last as long as they say.

Seldom wash with anything else!by Sharon

Wash-It Laundry Ball

Having had a bad rash a few years ago caused by soap detergent I tried these. Seldom do the wash with anything else unless something is heavily soiled then may give it a presoak in a stain remover I can use -- so Lakeland probably wonder why I don't buy more of these! The answer is they last well and work out far cheaper than soap powder and they don't clog up the washing machine.

I use these, they workby MARIA

Wash-It Laundry Ball

These work very well and I use them when washing needs a light wash to freshen it up. They are efficient and effective and need only a quick wash as they work throughout the rinsing programme too

Not sure...by Ms Power

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I've never been brave enough to use this on heavily soiled whites as I'm not sure it would work, but it's fine on darker things that are lightly soiled. The only odd thing I've noticed is that the washing machine gets a funny oniony smell after I've used the Wash-it Laundry Ball a few times. No idea why or what this means, it clears when I go back to using washing powder for a day or so.

Travelling light & tightby Ann

Wash-It Laundry Ball

We bought one of these to carry in our campervan some years ago because of lack of space. It is a lot more convenient than convetional products and is quite addequate for emergancy needs. It has been used in France Switzerland and America and quite a few small sights in the UK where facilities are limited. The results have been great. Bolognaise, vomit, soup, dirty marks from vehicle to name but a few. Admittedly our wash loads are not as big as they might be at home but it wasn't bought with that in mind, for the use we make of it we are very pleased.

Forget-It Laundry Ballby Debi James

1 stars out of 5

Wash-It Laundry Ball

Forget buying this item as it's useless, you may as well just not use anything during the wash as you'd get the same results. It doesn't get rid of stains or smells and is a complete waste of money.

Wash-It Laundry Ball

We have been using one of these for at least 18 months now (well we are onto the 3rd or 4th ball by now obviously). I haven't counted the washes, but it seems to work absolutely fine for us. Our machine won't let us not do the rinse cycle, so essentially clothes get 'double-washed' when we use it. When the balls inside have worn down the wash isn't as good, but then it is time to replace it. Generally we are very pleased with this, it is particularly good as it takes up hardly any space and it doesn't bother my sensitive skin.

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I bought this ball from lakeland shop a few months ago. Note that on description it says that the ball works up to 100 washes.yet it stopped cleaning any laundry after 10-12 washes. I didnot complain as I thought that may be the way it works (eco after all), but today after reading other reviews I now know that it wasn't just me who didn't get good results. An expensive and not very useful item when now a days u can get as much as 42 washes for £4.00.

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I bought one of these balls a few years ago. As an experiment I used it exclusively on my bedclothes and I have to agree with some of the other reviews that after a few washes the bedclothes came out of the wash smelling rather stale. I personally stopped using the ball and went back to ordinary detergent.

A note from the team: I'm sorry that on this occasion the product wasn't as expected. We'll be in touch shortly. Please note: The product is fragrance free and doesn't contain any harsh chemicals. Therefore, it won't deodorise clothing and it's not a direct substitute to conventional washing powders. It's an eco friendly product, which helps people to save time, energy and water.

Smelly Washby Mr Stewart

Wash-It Laundry Ball

As others have stated on here, this product can leave your clothes smelling a little, and unless you can hang out in the fresh air to dry, its not recommended. It doesn't wash as clean as powder as regard to stains. It probably needs more development to be a true alternative to soap powders/liquids.

Our clothes smell...by Helen

1 stars out of 5

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I bought this because I thought it was worth a try and I began using it with an open mind having read other reviews. For the first few weeks it seemed to perform as well as my usual detergent. After a while though I noticed our clothes did not smell clean. In fact they had an unpleasant, almost mould type smell. This was especially the case in the underarm areas of both mine and my husbands clothes - the Wash-It ball was not getting deodorant/sweat smells out of the fabric. I wont be buying another and will go back to using detergent which I think cleans laundry much better.

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I found that this ball just did not get clothes clean - it just spread any dirt around and certainly did not appear to remove any. I ended up using it just to rinse through swimwear. I have to urge caution in use however as my ball split open during use yesterday (the plastic mesh had broken) and the machine started to make a terrible noise as all of the balls started to work their way through the mechanism. It is too soon to tell whether there has been any lasting damage caused and it may have been a freak accident, but I certainly would not use one of these in a washing machine ever again.

Wash-It Laundry Ball

Good idea, but just doesn't work. I bought this as I have I have two small children who both suffer from eczema, but it doesn't get their clothes at all clean. There is no noticeable difference on a 40 degree wash between using this laundry ball and just washing with water.

great wash ballsby Mrs Evans

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I use these usually when I do towels and other fabric that doesn't benefit from excess detergent and fabric conditioner and they work a treat. They smell clean and fresh with no added fragrance. To be honest though, I agree they do not work that well on stains or just plain white shirts, especially around the cuffs and collars. That's why I mainly only use the wash balls for my towels.

Not so good on stainsby Mrs Holbrook

3 stars out of 5

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I have been using my laundry ball for several weeks now and although it is good with lightly soiled items I have found it not so good on heavily soiled ones. My husband wears white shirts for work and the ball doesn't get them as clean as my normal powder used to. I also miss the soft rinse smell. My machine is on a time switch as I try to do most of my washing using the off peak electricity and the ball is very noisy in the early hours of the morning so I think it is back to my usual powder!!

Great Product But...by Barbara Derber

4 stars out of 5

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I have been using the Wash-It Laundry Ball for years and usually bulk-buy them as my washing machine works very hard. It is very convenient , doesn't take up storage space and is gentle on the skin. It gets a clean wash but doesn't tackle stains at all and I found I needed extra products for stain treatment. It is also very economical providing that the ball does not fall apart as happened with the last one I was using, even though the little green balls inside were still quite big.

I am about to order my second wash-it laundry ball,I was a bit sceptical at first but when I used the ball for hubbys jeans after he had been working on the car and they were just as clean as if I had used my usual washing powder I very impressed .

Excellent Productby Mrs Ward

5 stars out of 5

Wash-It Laundry Ball

Just tried my first half dozen washes with this product. Very pleased with the results, stunned actually as i was very sceptical. Some of the laundry was heavily mud stained after a day outside at an outdoor event yesterday. All came out clean as a whistle on a 40 degree wash. All the rest was fine on a 30 degree one. Did make sure that the wash programme was a fairly long one as advised to give it a chance. Able to cut the rinse programme and save water. Long may this continue, hope it is the eco and money saving way forward.

Washing machine friendlyby Alison

Wash-It Laundry Ball

I have been using these wash-it balls for about 5 years now. I recently had cause to have my 8 year old washing machine mended. The mechanic was very impressed that there was no limescale build up despite being in a very hard water aread. He also said that the usual smell of a machine that age was not detectable. Useful to take on holiday too, but for heavily stained washing not so good.
