I bought this having read most of the reviews but still being a little sceptical. On my first use I was a convert. The product is outstanding! I have used it on bundt/fluted tins, shaped tins, and regular cake tins alike and the results are great. Smooth sides, minimal crumbs and a clean and quick release.

I couldn't be without cake release in my kitchen store cupboard. You only need to use a little bit brushed on the tins and the cakes come out so easily. It leaves the cakes with a great even surface ready to decorate. Especially good in multi tins used to make mini cakes. Make sure to shake the bottle well to mix before use.

this really is great and I also use it for stopping the mixing unit sticking to the bread when using my breadmaker

Smells funny and hard to clean off”
Im in two minds about this product. It does work fairly well, but it's hard to get out of the bottle, hard to clean off the tin and it smells terrible. I normally line my tins as well as it's not 100% effective on its own. I will continue to use it until it's all gone, but I won't buy it again.

I read the reviews on this product, heard raving reviews about it from staff in store. So, bought it, used it and I am now going to return it as I am so annoyed I even bothered in the first place. I was told to shake the bottle vigorously before use then apply it with a pastry brush and the cake won't stick, oh but it stuck. So, now I am going to make my Christmas cake for a second time using my usual method which has NEVER let me down. As the only difference this year from the previous 7 is use of cake release I can safely say I will NEVER use it again. I'd give it a minus if I could.

For me, this product has worked really well, and while I initially baulked at the price of £3.99 for a little bottle of starch and fat, it does seem to last forever. I think it's important to brush tins lightly with this all over, rather than dabbing with kitchen paper, as that's how I've been using it and it has never failed me yet.

Have used it in in cake tins - perfect. Have now used it under my homemade pizza which made my base the best ever! and only a small amount of the product is needed so a small bottle will last a long time

I hate lining cake tins and I've tried over and over greasing with butter but to no avail. Cake release works fantastically, but you have to be quite liberal with how much you use - particularly on the base as that's where the cake appears to be most prone to sticking. Its allowed me to make my first bundt cakes that have actually come out the tin. I have, however, had similar results greasing with vegetable oil since purchasing cake release so really I'm not sure its worth it.

Good but expensive”
Works well, expensive and find that the nozzle gets very blocked and you have to release the air out of the bottle. Be interested to see how long it lasts.

Is it magic?!”
We bought this together with the Jubilee Bundt pan, and for a previously-purchased Nordic Ware Honeycomb Pull-Apart cake pan. Both are VERY intricate pans, and I had failures with the Honeycomb one before, so this Release was more of a hopeful purchase...I can't quite describe how pleased I was with how well it worked! I use an electric, fan-assisted oven, and I applied a thin coating to the pans with a pastry brush (shaking the bottle is a must). The cakes quite literally fell out! The baked surfaces were smooth and practically perfect. This does exactly what it claims, and we love it!

I bought this to use for making 8 inch sponge sandwich cakes to save me time lining tins - it certainly does what it says, the cakes didn't stick at all but I found the finish and texture it gave to the edges very artificial looking and unappetising so I'll be going back to lining my tins the old way and won't be using this again.

I was having trouble with using a ring mould and the cake getting stuck. I asked at the Lakeland shop for advice and was told this would be the perfect solution. Compared to just greasing the tin I think the cake stuck even more although I very thoroughly brushed the product round the tin as advised. The shop is too far to bother to go back but as far as I'm concerned this product isn't worth having.

Pleasently Surprised But Problems with Bottle”
I've been sceptical of Cake Release for a while - I'd seen both good and bad reviews so I was wary. So far, my scepticism has be unfounded. I've used it on several different tins and with several different bakes and for the most part it's worked a treat. I do seem to have an issue with 'clogging' though. Every use I find myself having to unscrew the top and clean it out before I can get any to come out which is a bit of a faff. I'll often be half way through greasing and it gets blocked again. I agree with some of the previous reviewers that a container with a wider neck would really help.

cake release disappointment”
by Rita McDonald
This is the first time I've used this product and I followed the instructions carefully. Thought I'd give it a try with an easy loaf tin but the cake stuck and I'm left with a bottomless cake. I don't know if I would trust it with a complex shaped tin. Where did I go wrong.

I have used this with great success for a long time and was recently very pleased indeed to find that if I wipe the paddle on my Panasonic bread machine with a little of the liquid then most times it does not stick inside my freshly baked loaf - success, hurrah. Also recommend the bread machine.

Excellent product but...”
I have been regularly using this product for bout 3 years and have never had a failure with it. However please could you put it into a more user friendly dispenser. I find it very difficult to get out, a wider neck bottle or one with integral brush would be great.

Have thought about buying this for a while, as thought it would be easier and quicker than the greasing, lining base ,and flouring that I usually do, with great results. However, despite giving the bottle a good shake and following the instructions, the sponges did NOT come out of the tin as promised. I had to shake the tins to encourage release of sponges, and then half was left in the tins. I am very disappointed , and shall go back to my original method.

Lakeland sent me one of these because my first experience with their mini baking tins weren't positive - I had problems with bakes sticking even after greasing and lining the tins. I have used this several times now - even on silicone heart shaped moulds (Valentines!!) and bakes have turned out fine.
