They DO work...” by Sarah
... when used with an insulated bag.
We bought these along with an insulated sandwich bag. We used them all last summer to take lunch to the beach on the hottest days (in the UK anyway!), and our sandwiches and boxes of juice were still practically fridge-cold by lunchtime, 4-5 hours later. Use them to extend the length of time an insulated bag will keep things cool for.
I can imagine that just put in a normal plastic box they won't stay frozen long at all - after all, they're not that big. But in an insulated bag or cool box they're great.
The gel doesn't go solid when frozen so they're still pliable, unlike some other products that just turn into a block of ice.

I have used the icepacks for a long time now and i like them. You do have to keep them in a really, really cold freezer though, and the longer you keep them the better they freeze. I will continue to use them and at this moment ordering more. Please dont get rid of them Lakeland. Ill be back for more. Thank you.
Medical use” by Valerie
I don't use these in food packs - I use them on ankles, knees, hands and anywhere else you need to get the swelling down! I have used them for years for my arthritis and they are better than the traditional bag of peas because they are pliable and bend to the shape of your hand, leg etc.
When using, remember to place a sheet of kitchen roll between the flesh and the ice pack to prevent freezer burns. You used to sell larger sheets which I cut but these are just as good.
