"High hopes but first batch was a disaster"

I was hoping that this would produce a perfect batch, ordered in some fresh Bulgarian starter and set it running yesterday. This starter needs 24 hours plus, but when I checked it the milk had separated and the culture looked dead, on checking the temperature it was reading just above 50c which is enough to kill the culture, just set a second batch of a different type of culture needing only 12 hours and setup a temperature probe to check the range, if it goes to 50c again the results will be the same, shame no way of controlling the temperature.
A note from the team
We do recommend, in the instructions, that you have the means of keeping the correct temperature (ideally between 40°C and 47°C) for this electric yoghurt maker, to avoid the problems you've experienced. We hope that you'll be able to find a suitable alternative.
