“How green is my paper?

I am trying to cut down the number of plastic bags that hang round in my kitchen - I wash and reuse as many as I can but they don't enhance the view as they hang around dripping! So I invested in some plastic storage boxes for the fridge (including an excellent Lock & Lock bacon box and Tefal cheese cellar) and a roll of this waxed paper. I'm very pleased so far; food like ham and cheese definitely seem to feel less 'damp' after being wrapped in it. I was just wondering if anyone has views on, or experience of, adding it to the compost heap. I use a bokashi bin in the kitchen, which deals with just about everything, but I suppose it depends on what the waxing is actually made of. If it's safe and easy to compost then this paper will be the perfect solution to all my 'green' worries about little plastic bags and clingfilm! So 4 stars plus a possibility of another!

Waxed paper is superior to clingfilm etc for storing foodstuffs like cheese. It is also excellent for the freezer-foodstuffs need to be double-wrapped with freezer bags or foil though. This paper is of very good quality.

I have used this product since it came to being and have always loved it. However the new roll is much thinner and not white why did you change it I hope the qualities have not changed it is brilliant for wrapping cheese, especially Parmesan
A note from the team: Thanks for taking the time to write your review. There has been a slight change in the food saver paper. Our buying team have tested the new and old version against each other with blue cheeses, which they kept in the fridge for a length of time and were happy with the performance of the new version.
