waste of money ....by Miss Turner

1 stars out of 5

Spider Catcher

If i could give this product no stars sadly i would , this is the worst product that i have ever purchased from lakeland . The suction is appalling and therefore does not do what the product description says , i have only managed to get rid of one spider using this contraption without it getting away and this was only because i got so frustrated that i jabbed and squished it .I would never recommend this product to anyone , it is a waste of money !!

Spider non-catcherby Emma Farrell

Spider Catcher

Unfortunately I haven't had a good experience with this spider catcher, so I'm really disappointed that I ordered two of them! The black house spider that i attempted to catch, sat firmly beside the woodburner laughing at my attempts to hoover it into the tube. Eventually it got bored of being tickled and seemed to scrunch itself into a ball, probably hoping I'd go away. I've also tried it on another spider which refused to disappear up the tube, and ran like hell across the floor. So my only conclusion is that I'm using this device really wrong, or I have body-building spiders in my house.

Best item bought all year!by Berni Rolston

Spider Catcher

I was delighted when I heard about this product. I have caught dozens of spiders and many wasps since August. It enabled me to have windows open without fear in late summer which was lovely and now to tackle all the spiders trying to install themselves in my house over the winter. Brilliant. Thank you so much! PS - it's so good it got me to leave a review for the first time ever.

I have one of these in every room - they are the best product for catching spiders on the market. I wish you could make them more powerful though as large spiders can escape the suction.

Best ever buy !by Mrs kathleen webb

Spider Catcher

Bought one of these some years ago and couldn't believe the difference it made to my terror of spiders. I now manage to not go into sheer panic ! just go get the catcher- " hoover " them up and out the door/window they go ! Have since bought another (though the first still works perfectly) ....and my family have followed suit :) I even take it with me on holiday ..no more fears !

Spider Catcher

I'm awful when it comes to spiders but I have caught a few with this. It doesn't work all the well when there is a cobweb involved which isn't handing but works a treat other than that. I don't have a problem with it falling apart as in other reviews as you can pull the tubes apart when emptying instead of hitting or shaking it (this is my partners job though). It hasn't taken the pressure off knowing I have it. Would definitely buy again. Thinking of getting one for the car also.

Spiders in no danger! No suction at all on this poor productby Sally

1 stars out of 5

Spider Catcher

Bought this piece of junk yesterday. I travelled especially to the store in Nottingham as my mum was having a problem catching enormous spiders in her bathroom. The instructions are beyond useless - several bits of plastics with absolutely no mention of what they might be for. There is no suction at all. I have tried it on lots of insects and zilch, zippo...not one has fallen into this humane catcher. I had always trusted Lakeland. This is sooo poor.

The reviews for this were mixed but I decided to give it a go. We have a lot of harvestmen and medium size spiders in the house. We had problems removing them and any that had spun any sort of web or silk to attach themselves to. If however the tube can be placed so there is no gap between tube and wall, after a few seconds it works. Maybe it needs a wider funnel type attachment for larger spiders? Oh, and a light sabre effect would be appreciated too to make wielding it more fun :-)

Needs to be strongerby Pamela

Spider Catcher

Being terrified of spiders have bought several of these for different rooms. Yes they do suck up the spiders but the only problem is that the weight at the battery end means that the handle frequently falls off at the wrong moment, something I can't risk so have to resort to the hoover for large spiders Have since thrown one of them away as couldn't get it back together.

A note from the team: Thanks for your feedback. If the black cap at the end of the handle falls off, it's likely that the battery isn't quite fitted correctly. We'll be in touch to help.

Great idea; poor qualityby Sue

Spider Catcher

I've experienced all the issues mentioned by others reviewing this item. Unfortunately it seems to be the only one of its kind on the market, and when it works it is brilliant. Such a shame about the quality/durability. It would be worth paying extra for a more robust product.

Poor quality but I'd buy another!by Mrs Hindson

Spider Catcher

I bought 3 of these (1 for each floor of my house) as I'm terrified of spiders and around September I get invaded by absolute MONSTERS. Each one fell apart and had to be glued. The clear tube is in 2 sections and often comes apart when tapping the spiders out. The batteries run down quickly and suction gets weaker and weaker until one day the device fails you - unable to suck anything up. However; when its working and not falling apart on you - its the easiest and most efficient device I've come across for a complete phobic like myself to catch and get rid with minimal screaming.

Poor performanceby Lisa

Spider Catcher

This was bought for my mum who is scared of spiders, she had been unable to catch any spiders with it but suggested it was because she was too scared to get close enough to place it completely over the spider. I have since tried it on several occasions, I have completely sealed it over the spider yet the suction is still too weak. The old methods of a glass and cardboard are much more effective.

Good but goes downhill fastby Fiona

Spider Catcher

I can't catch spiders even with this, it terrifies me, but my husband used this regularly when we first had it. However I have to agree with other reviews, I think you probably need to buy a new one each year, which I can ill afford. Ours has basically now lost it's suction, it's taped together where it no longer stays together on it's own, and now we have to consider buying another one. I am loathed to buy this again though because of the deterioration of the product. I usually find Lakeland brilliant, this time not so much

So very sorry but......by Mrs VANDENBERGHEN

Spider Catcher

The first one I received had a faulty connection. However Lakeland collected it from my home and kindly sent me a replacement before receiving it back. Now I really do not like to complain but I must agree with other site reviews that mention the complete lack of power. It could not even pick up a dead fly! I actually dropped the top clear extension tube behind the wall unit I reached through in trying to catch a wasp and so I cannot really ask for a refund now. So sorry Lakeland but I cannot recommend this product. I really do not want to award even one star but have no other option.

A note from the team: Thanks for your feedback. The spider catcher is designed to be a humane way of catching spiders. For best results, position the nozzle close to the bug before switching on the suction. We'll contact you to help.

Good idea but uselessby Hilary May

Spider Catcher

I loved the idea of this as we have lots of spiders in the house and I'm not that keen on catching them, but this is next to useless. I found that basically any insect/spider could hold on against the vacuum even with the turbo booster. I only ever managed to catch one tiny spindly spider which I cornered. Certainly would catch a fly. Also found I needed to stick battery cover on with tape and it seemed poorly made. Only bonus is that now my little boy loves playing with it as a mini vacuum cleaner. Not what I expect from a Lakeland product.

Humane and Effectiveby M SMITH

Spider Catcher

When I first switched it on I was unsure whether the "motor" would be powerful enough to suck anything into the tube. However various bees, flies, wasps, moths and HUGE garden spiders have been humanely captured and released back into the garden. I'm 5' 7" with an arm reach of 2 feet and the tube length easily allows me to reach to room corners.

Spider Catcher

Living in the country we do suffer from a large number of spiders in the house. Up until now I have used my vacuum cleaner so when out shopping I popped into Lakeland for another item and saw this. Unfortunately my impulse buy was a complete waste of time and as if the spiders now it, I have more than ever before, bravely I tackled a medium sized one with me at full stretch and the tube right over it in the end it walked off. There is very little suction and I am very disappointed - back to the vacuum cleaner extension tube, and next time I go back into town I am returning it.
