“Lovely except for the handle
”
by Mrs Marshall
This looks great and is a very convenient size. I generally really like the product but the handle falls off very frequently. This means it feels risky to carry around or wash up, and, considering the price, is quite a substantial downside. I do find the filter in the lid to be excellent - it really does not get smelly - and the bin looks very attractive. It's just a shame that the handle does not fit a bit more securely.

“Loved it, but...
”
by Kate Gordon
I think this seems to have a common problem - the lid! A beautiful crock and I have had no issues with escaping smells etc, but the lid is VERY fragile. I have glued it back together several times, but unfortunately the lid is now sitting on my worktop, broken, yet again. I'll repair it as best I can, as I can't find a replacement that I actually like, but know it's only a matter of time before it will break again. Such a shame!

“Great product to start with
”
by Justine Allen
Initially, this was a great product. Didn't take up hardly and room or look out of place in my utility room but unfortunately, I have had the same problem as the previous lady and both the lid and crock cracked after going in the dishwasher. I'm now going to purchase the plastic caddy instead.

“No smells or fruit flies
”
by Catherine
Fantastic - much better than previous caddies I have owned. I will be carefull with the handle/lid ! I went away for a week and the family "forgot" to empty it - no nasty smells , brilliant, and very easy to wash up too.

“Shame about the lid!
”
by Fiona
Like everyone here, have found it to be a useful thing and it looks quite smart on the windowsill - but I never or rarely use the handle because I don't have confidence in it!

“compost crock - my worktop friend
”
by Mrs Lawrie
This is a lovely item for the kitchen - looks attractive and sits firmly on the worktop. It is easy to clean and is odour free. The handle can work its way loose and I dont want to break this lovely item so i have got into the habit of always checking the handle before lifting it. It quickly gets full if you are a large family, however a bigger one wouldn't look as discreet. I have bought a few of these as presents as I am that pleased with it.

“Great Kitchen Compost Bin but.....
”
by Rose
I have had the white one of these for years, am on the second lid now as my son dropped the first one! It is a great product and I would like to get the black verson now as I think that looks very stylish and would match my kitchen better but it has one design flaw. The base of the pot is not glazed and is very rough - I think this would scratch the work top. I put some of the sticky felt under the edge of the first one but it looks a bit unsightly. Hopefully Lakeland will look at the design and maybe do something to solve this small issue.

“Great ... until it broke
”
by Rebecca
I got this as a Christmas present, and loved it and so much better than a black plastic pot on the side having to empty it every day!! Until, carried it across the kitchen using the handle and it just smashed on the floor and i had the handle just left in my hand! Disappointed, so out comes the black plastic pot again as can't keep buying a new one. So if you buy one buy be careful whilst carrying it!

“Lovely Product Shame about the Handle
”
by Alison
It's a lovely pot and I decided to have another go when my first faulty handle cased me to drop it. I have had the second one a lot longer than the first but handle has let this one down again. I now have another broken pot. I will be changing to a metal one.

“Compost crock
”
by Karen
I have had my Compost Crock for many years about to buy my second because my husband dropped the lid of the first one! However will keep base of old one because I can use it to store all sorts of utensils.

“Disappointed
”
by Karen
My compost crock was absolutely fine until its first wash - thereafter it is constantly "hairy" with mould. I can only assume that it never dries out properly because of the unglazed areas - I really wish I had purchased an all metal one now.

“Nice to look at but very small
”
by Emma
Having received my caddy the handle was faulty & Lakeland are sending a new one and advised to send the original to a charity shop (fabulous customer service as always) The Compost Crock looks lovely on the worktop BUT it is extremely small. With the bins provided by the council I used to be able to put 3-4 days worth of peelings/food in etc, but with this bin after the peelings for one meal and any leftovers from the meal, the bin is full. I have so far had to take out the bag on a daily basis (no real need for the filters as it is not there long enough to smell) Defeats the object really.

“White Compost Crock Pot.
”
by Mrs BLACKBURN
Oops, wish I had read the reviews before I purchased this crock pot. Have only had it for 2 weeks and today my husband took it out to the garden compost and I heard the smash as the handle came off and the pot itself broke. Still have the lid but no crock pot. Next time I purchase I will check reviews first, very disappointed.

“Compost Crock Lids
”
by Christine
Well done Lakeland, for supplying replacement Compost Crock lids. I have had my crock for some time but, unlike other customers, have never had any problem with the handle (perhaps because my husband realized early on that it was loose and used pliers to bend the wire more tightly round the ceramic 'prongs'). However I was very upset when I saw recently that - inexplicably, because nobody knows how or when it happened!! - the lid of the pot had a nasty crack on the top and a chunk out of the edge. However Lakeland came to the rescue as usual and I was able to order a replacement lid.

“No smells and looks great!
”
by Mrs Hayley Edmunds
We got bought one of these as a wedding present and its great! It looks nice on the side instead of the boring plastic compost caddies you see and we have had no flies and no nasty smells! Recommended!

“No problems
”
by Margaret
I have had my crock a few years now and think it is brilliant and looks really good on my worktop. I always use a bag inside it so do not have to lift the crock very often. The bags I find fit the best are the medium food and freezer bags, which have a tie handle as well so you can just lift it out and take it to your compost heap for emptying.

“Lousy Compost Crock
”
by Mrs Barbara Rose
I bought this compost crock a few weeks ago along with the filters. After just one day I went to empty it and found the filter in the lid full of fruit fly maggots where the flies had crawled in through the holes in the lid and laid eggs. Disgusting. I tried covering the lid inside with clingfilm but this made it difficult to clean and unpleasant. Relegate to the charity bag at the moment, very disappointed.

“Handle
”
by Lyn Mills
We loved this pot and it looks great on the worktop, but it only lasted a week because my husband used the handle to pick it up and the pot 'fell' out of it into our stone sink and shattered to pieces. We are ordering another one and will try to be careful this time, but wished we'd thought to keep the lid since others seem to have trouble with that!

“Lovely pot but watch the lid
”
by Mrs christine monahan
I was bought a Lakeland compost crock last Christmas. It looked lovely in my white kitchen. On a trip to the compost bin outside my back door the handle of the pot suddenly came away from the pot. Unfortunately the pot smashed into several pieces. It also cracked a tile on my utility room floor. If you do buy one do not carry it with the handle!! A shame but its safer.
