“Blowtorch dangerous fault
”
by Mr Walton
The torch, having being used several times without problems, was refilled after a lapse of a year or so. There was a hissing noise even with the control knob turned firmly off. Foolishly I ignited the torch, which at first had a normal flame. Suddenly my hand was enveloped in a ball of yellow flame. I threw the torch into a sink of water which extinguished it. I turned the knob off under water but could see gas bubbles emerging rapidly around the knob spindle. I took the torch outside and opened the valve to allow the gas to escape and disperse. The back of my hand was singed. Beware.

“A faulty blowtorch but excellent service
”
by Jennifer
As with another reviewer, James, I bought this blowtorch two years ago and have used it on many occasions with great ease and success. The last time I filled it up with gas, it failed to ignite and I could hear the gas hissing after turning it off. I took it back to Lakeland and they could not have been more helpful and gave me a replacement .

“Great... while it lasts
”
by James
I bought one of these after using the very same item that had been purchased by a friend and I was highly impressed with the performance and control. Whilst it lasted, I recall that we were both very impressed with the torch which (whilst working) deserves 5 stars. Both were bought from (different) Lakeland stores and unfortunately, both have suffered seal failure after about two years. The torches won't hold gas for more that a few minutes. However, Lakeland after-care has been exemplary, and I am hoping that a replacement blowtorch will be longer-lived. Another, minor niggle, is that the 'fill' hole for the gas doesn't appear to fill a universal gas lighter refill nozzle or any of the adapters properly, resulting in quite a lot of over-spray when filling.

I have wanted one of these for a long time ,but never bought one as I was nervous of using one, but my friend bought me one for my birthday, I have used it now a couple of times, its so easy to control and easy to use. Only used it for creme brulee so far, but it works really well.

A brilliant piece of kit, controllable, so gentle enough for Creme Brulee but powerful enough to seal meat. well worth the price
