"Star wars millenium falcon cake pan"

Just to say a BIG thank you to the wonderful staff at the Kingston store who really went the extra mile to help me source one of these lovely cake pans when it suddenly went out of stock. Thank you too to the staff all that way away in Harrogate who so kindly and swiftly got the cake pan out to my local store. My daughter was so pleased with her cake and it really made our star wars party! we used the Nigella birthday buttermilk cake recipe and doubled it. That made enough mix to fill the Millenium falcon pan and the smaller pan containing 4 small ships. Took a long time to cook in slow oven

    "This has the wow factor!"

I tried 2 attempts - the first was a chocolate cake, chocolate icing and then white icing on top. It went well & looked OK, but I knew u could do better! Second attempt - I made 2 chocolate cakes from the mould and sandwiched them together with chocolate ganache (I should say at this stage, my son (7) only likes chocolate!) I sprayed the cakes silver and then added detail with fondant icing- white & black. Result was wow! One happy boy! I am not a cake maker and so if I can do this, anyone can! I will try and post a photo.

    A note from the team

Thanks for your feedback, I'm glad the cake pan worked so well. We'd love to see your results so your pictures can be posted on our Facebook page or Twitter account.

    "Great pan"

This pan produces a very detailed cake. If you frost it, the detail is lost. I baked the cake, then lined the entire pan with fondant (after corn starch). I let that sit for two hours, and then carefully turned the silicone pan over and flopped the fondant Millennium Falcon directly onto the cake Millennium Falcon. It worked pretty darn well, but my photo doesn't show it. Then I just used lustre dust to paint some detail and damage onto it. Finally, I added Lego pieces because a four year-old wanted a Lego Star Wars cake.
