Based on the classic Indian cooking pan, also known as a karahi or karai, Tefal’s Kadai is a must for cooking authentic Indian food. With a glass lid, and made from aluminium for great heat conductivity, the flat bottom and deep sides allow for frying and sautéing onions and spices, cooking whole curries and even deep-frying Indian snacks such as bhajis. It comes with Tefal’s unique Thermospot technology – a circle that turns red when the pan has reached optimum cooking temperature.

Having used the pan several times, it has quickly become a very useful addition in our kitchen. I bought it with curries and stews in mind, but my husband would use it for everything! The two handles spread the weight when the pan is full and make it easy to pick up and carry with two hands – helpful if you have a weakness in the wrists. But because it has two handles, you do need to get into the habit of positioning this pan on the hob that both are clear of the burners.

I wanted to wait for couple of months of use before reviewing this excellent cookware. I've been cooking more and more Indian food and found the saute pan I used was ok but didn't distribute the heat so well, I wanted a better alternative, or moreover the proper tool for the job! This Tefal Khadai is superb, heats evenly, obviously non stick and perfectly deep sized for any variety of dishes / methods. Good work Lakeland!
