Small pies?” by Frances
Bought this excellent pie maker yesterday and have made apple pies and chicken pies successfully already. I was worried that I couldn't get the bases to stay down with the plastic thingy - they tended to stick to it and then having been heated by the machine became a bit of a mess. I then read the reviews of the four pie maker and found others had had this problem and solved it by putting the pastry into the machine when it was cold, this sounds to be the solution and I will try it next. I was amazed to read that people though the four pie was too small, I find mine, the eight pie perfect!
A must buy” by JooFang Cindy
I bought this to not make mince pies (ugh! sorry), but to make savoury pies, like chicken curry or lamb curry, which you need to cook on the dry side. Yummy. I cook mine after its heated, but I make my pies ahead. I have one of Lakeland's 12 cake trays with the removal bottoms. Roll out the dough, make the shapes, insert into the cake tray, spoon in the filling, and put the top on. I have cooked right away, and also put it back into the fridge to cook next morning, to take to work. The following AM, I heat the pie maker, and drop in the pies I made the night before. 20 mins later 24 pies.
Slight tweak to the instruction and results were fab” by PAULA
Thought this would be extremely useful as my attempts at individual pie making have mostly decorated the bottom of my oven especially sweet varieties.Used it once as per instruction leaflet and results were mixed lost two pies as the pastry just shrivelled as soon as it hit the hot surface,so second attempt was done from cold took about 12 mins as opposed to the 10 mins in the leaflet to produce 8 lovely little apple pies that would have made Mr K proud. Easier to handle the bases lids and filling cold and less likely to burn your hands when placing the pastry into the mould.Cant fault now.
