Really disappointing. Have tried following the instructions and advice given on how to refill it, am using refill canisters from Lakeland, but just will not refill.
I had problems trying to refill my blowtorch so Lakeland replaced it, all seemed well at first but now that it has run out of gas this replacement is also useless as the gas just runs out over the base. It seems to impossible to refill these things and into the bargain the trigger now doesn't seem to be engaging. I shall be taking this into the shop asap. Cremer Brûlée under the grill tonight! The rating should be 0 star!
Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to speak to me on the phone. I hope the tips I've given work for you. If you have any further problems a colleague will be happy to help when you return it to the store. TIPS - Make sure the blow torch is in the 'off' position. Turn upside down and insert the gas canister stem into the fill valve and press down for 3 to 4 seconds, repeat 3 times. After filling allow to stand for a few minuets for the gas to stabilize.
I had an older model of this torch for 4 years without problem until the gas started to leak last week. Purchased a new torch, filled it, lit it once to try it, all looked fine. Tried to light it again and the ignition won't work, it appears to be stuck. Doesn't look as robust as my old one. Will be returning it for a refund but won't buy another. Very disappointed.
Have wanted a chef's blow torch for a while and borrowed my Mum's to see what it was like. As it wasn't supplied with gas she had been unable to use it so when we finally got some we tested it out. Unfortunately we were left incredibly disappointed as it didn't even finish caramelising the top of one ramekin before it stopped working and rather than a flame coming out we had liquid butane! We refilled it and tried again but this time got nothing at all from it. We are now in a position where not only are we still looking for a blow torch ourselves, we need to replace my Mum's as well.
Thanks for taking the time to write your review. I'm sorry to hear of the problem that you've had I'll be in touch shortly to help.
Nice idea but after giving wonderful brulee tops to 5 ramekins of Raymond Blanc's delicious rice pudding, it ran out and despite several attempts to re-fuel, it leaked gas everywhere and they have turned out to be the most expensive brulee topped desserts! One use and it's in the bin - not customer or environment friendly. Now I will have to do more research and try to find one that works next time.
Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry that you've had problems with the blowtorch and will be in touch shortly. The item is re-fillable with Universal Lighter Fluid, readily available from tobacconists.
