If you like Turkish Delight, then do try this rose extract. I recently made a 6oz Victoria Sponge mix with one teaspoon of rose extract, sandwiched together with raspberry jam and some vanilla buttercream - totally delicious. One teaspoon of extract in the mix gave just the right rose note without being flowery. Next time, vanilla sponge, strawberry jam and rose buttercream!

Having tried, to no avail, to purchase this elsewhere when Lakeland stopped stocking this, I am delighted to see this back. It's simply wonderful added to any sponge mixture. Try it in a Victoria sponge, filled with double cream and fresh strawberries (lovely, if inauthentic) or in cupcakes, topped with fondant icing and crystallised rose petals.

Having had great success with a violet essence (different manufacturer) which needed only six drops to a mixture that made 15 large sweets, I was very disappointed with this. I bought it to make Rose Fondant sweets but had to use so much to get the slightest hint of rose flavour into the fondant that the bitter alcohol taste was overwhelming. Given that there is 99% alcohol to 1% rose oil AND water the rose content is negligible. The lavender essence is slightly better and I have not yet tried the vanilla I bought at the same time, but I would not try any other flavours in this range
