I bought this yesterday and was excited to get baking with my eager four year old. However, we have had only disasters from the machine so far. I followed the vanilla recipe, lightly greased the pan and waited for the green light. After 4 mins we opened the lid to find a greasy mess. The mixture hadn't risen enough so they were more like hats, flat one side, round on the other. Tasted like greasy doughnuts and not like cake. On the last batch I added some baking powder in an attempt to get a proper ball shape but that still didn't work. Came out easy mind! What am I doing wrong? Disappointed.

The essential instructions are that you allow the machine to heat up before use and don't open the lid during baking as this allows heat to escape, thus prolonging cooking time. If the cake is not ready, please allow further cooking time in 15 second blocks of time.
