Took a few attempts but got there in the end.....sort ofby jennifer

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

My mother brought his for me for my birthday as I enjoy making cakes and I have never struggled with making the right mixture as much as I have with this. The recipe makes the mixture far too runny.Either they were only cooked on one side or still gooey in the middle. After about 10 more attempts adjusting flour, timings, how much mixture I used….the works…. I have finally got it right. Took about 2 hours rather than a few minutes. The recipes need more flour and no milk and about double the cooking time, turning them over half way through. This is the only way I have managed to get ball shapes!

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

The doorbell rang and my cake-pop maker was delivered - just 20 minutes later we were eating our first little sponge balls! I found this machine very easy to use. I am not a painstakingly accurate baker,, but I had no problem getting the right amount of mix in each hole, and the cakes came free perfectly easily. One egg's worth of mix makes 15 cakes - a good number for a batch and the cakes themselves are a good size - a few bites' worth. And the whole house smelt wonderful!

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

great to use. good recipes included, value for money.would recommend and have done so. just so much fun. made 1st batch for a child's party but I think the adult ate most of them. if you slightly over fill them they still cook ok and you end up with what looks like planets which the kids loved. you don't need to decorate if you don't fell like it just dust with icing sugar as they taste great. have also made the doughnut recipe they smell and taste good. to get these small cake out of holder as it it very hot I use plastic forks the work very well and don't mark the cake's. full marks...

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

Just bought my cake pops maker from my local Lakeland shop and love it. However I wish Lakeland also sold candy melts. The buttons I bought from the shop didn't work very well. I'm going to try cake covering as recommended in the book that came with the machine to see if that works better.

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

I bought this because I have always wanted to make cake pops but never liked the idea of making balls of broken cake and buttercream icing(too sweet). So when I saw this I had to have it, and made my 1st batch last night. So quick and easy to use! Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

Very pleased with this product. My son has multiple allergies and so I had to use a 'free-from' cake recipe. I was concerned maybe it wouldn't work but took the risk & bought the product priced quite reasonably I felt, and it has come up trumps! You can make cake pops by crumbling cooked cake and mixing with frosting them moulding but to be honest, this saves the step of crumbling and mixing with the frosting so is much better! A few mins to mix your cake batter, and about 4-5 mins to bake - what could be simpler! My son will be pleased to join in the craze! Now for the decoration!

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

So far I have bought 3 of these as gifts for friends kids. They are easy to use and great fun to decorate. To tip I discovered is to freeze cake pops once stick is in before you decorate them especially if using melted chocolate.

Bought this two weeks ago and it is brilliant. My 9 year old grand-daughter just loves making the cake pops and we have even made mini donuts in it too, yummy. Very easy to use and easy to clean too. Perfect results every time :)

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

Hubby bought this for me as a surprise after we had seen it on display in Lakeland. Its fantastic so easy to use and the cake pops come out easy with a cocktail stick. They taste really lovely and moist too even after 4 days they still tasted lovely. I need to get the knack of dipping as my pops although secure come of the stick so I used a tea spoon to drizzle it on with which is not a problem. Cant wait to use it gain only made chocolate sponge ones so far.

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

This machine is so easy to use I could do it with my eyes closed! It takes minutes to heat up and they're a lovely size. They're made so quickly and never stick they just fall out! It's so easy to clean just a quick wipe and it's ready to go again. It's a good price and is great for parties and comes with recipies, what more could you ask for?! I would reccomend it to anyone!

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

Got one of these during the summer hols + under supervision let my 12 and 14 year olds loose on it and they managed fine, perfect balls first time. The chocolate frosting bit gets a bit messy, I'd recommend you let your chocolate chill a little before you dip them so it's less likely to run off but by the time the sprinkles have gone on any uneven coverage is hidden. Have fun - one that makes more at a time would be good but I'd recommend this product and am sure we'll get it out every hols and on birthdays to do some baking. I haven't seen a similar product elsewhere so good for Lakeland!

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

I was impressed with this. Produces great results, really good for parties. The lolly stick pack will only last for 1 batch (using the encs. recipes)- so if you want a couple of flavours, ensure you have enough sticks

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

Excellent product although a 12 cake maker would have been much easier and quicker hence the 4 star rating. The cake mixture was lovely but then came the covering - what a mess I ended up in. The melted chocolate was either too runny or curdled for some reason (may be overheating in the microwave), the icing dripped everywhere until finally it set, but to aim for a total covering would have been impossible, so I opted for just the top of the cake pop. I would be so grateful for advice on where I went wrong, but nonetheless loved the item, will now wait for the 12 pop maker!!

A note from the team: We've spoken to an experienced baker and they've suggested for better results heating chocolate in a bowl over hot water works really well. Once melted, leave to set then stir again to give a firmer mixture.Another great tip would be - use a stick to make a hole then dip another stick in the chocolate and place inside the cake pop and refriderate. This will make the fit between stick and cake pop stronger before dipping the cake pop in the chocolate mixture to decorate.Have fun!

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

I bought this really to do things with my granchildren but tried it with my left over cake mixture after baking one day and I was hooked. I did use cake release on the first batch and did not need to use it again until the 5th batch.I am ordering another one as they are so much fun.

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

I bought this yesterday and was excited to get baking with my eager four year old. However, we have had only disasters from the machine so far. I followed the vanilla recipe, lightly greased the pan and waited for the green light. After 4 mins we opened the lid to find a greasy mess. The mixture hadn't risen enough so they were more like hats, flat one side, round on the other. Tasted like greasy doughnuts and not like cake. On the last batch I added some baking powder in an attempt to get a proper ball shape but that still didn't work. Came out easy mind! What am I doing wrong? Disappointed.

Published 25 06 2012

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry that you're having problems and will be in touch shortly to help. The essential instructions are that you allow the machine to heat up before use and don't open the lid during baking as this allows heat to escape, thus prolonging cooking time. If the cake is not ready, please allow further cooking time in 15 second blocks of time.

Sweet Treats Cake Pop Maker

Following the easy instructions and recipes in the included booklet i filled the holes easily with a teaspoon and 4-4.5 minutes later I had perfectly rounded cake balls ready to dip. i found that adding a little cake release prior to the mixture helps them POP out easier ... only need to use one! The pops were very light and moist - not at all dry. Would recommend to beginners - Happy popping!! :)
