Imagine a loose-based cake pan that is completely watertight and leak-proof and requires absolutely no lining... We thought our eyes were deceiving us when this baking innovation arrived in the Lakeland sample room – until we tried PushPans for ourselves.
Our dear friend, Mary Berry, also tried our PushPans, and told us… "I used a Pushpan to make my Apple Cake and found that nothing leaked out, and it was a doddle to release the cake. An exciting world first, each pan has a uniquely integrated silicone seal on its loose base which guarantees that not a bit of cake mixture will find its way out of the pan; and since not a drop of water can get in either, they’re incredible for baking a cheesecake in a water bath without the faff of fashioning a lining or wrapping your pan in foil first.
Advanced, patented technology means you can push out any depth of cake with ease, releasing your creations for perfect presentation every time – even with the largest celebration cakes. Just place the pan on a tall can from your cupboard then push down to release the silicone seal. Made from heavy gauge, silver anodised aluminium, they offer even heat distribution with no hotspots, are oven safe to 230°C, freezer safe and metal utensil-friendly. There are handy fill lines on the interior of each pan, giving the option of a shallow or deeper cake, or a perfectly measured-out multi-layered mousse.

TIP. The seal is very efficient. Before first use, we advise washing and drying the pan. Next, coat the inside and the base with a small amount of cooking oil then push in the base. This will help when pushing up the base and also enhance the pan’s natural non-stick performance. With use, the pan will build up a patina which further enhances the natural non-stick.

Works a treat, just follow the instructions” by Helen
I was almost put off buying this product by the one review available at the time, as the reviewer had had some difficulties with it. However, in the end it was the only 11 inch cake tin I could find at short notice. I followed the instructions about washing, drying & oiling it & used it to make a carrot cake the following day. Although it says there's no need to grease it for cooking I was nervous for the first use so brushed on a bit of Cake Release. My cake turned out very even, released smoothly (after leaving to cool as directed) & the tin washed up easily. I could not be more

I bought the 11 inch pushpan to make the botom tier of my daughter's wedding cake.When it arrived it was almost impossible to push the base through. I was worried that I would bend it, it was so stiff. Even when I turned it upside down and pushed hard with both hands it wouldn't budge. It eventually came out at an angle , which would have ruined a cake.
Following the instructions I lightly oiled it and the base went back in. However a few minutes later when I tried to get it out again it was stuck fast again. I eventually got it out and will only be able to use it if I remove the silicone
A note from the team: Thanks for your review. Our buyers advise washing and drying the pan before use. Then coat the inside of the pan and the base with a small amount of oil and push the base into the pan. Pushing the base in and out of a dry pan will stiffen the resistance. Then follow the instructions on the PushPan packaging to bake your cake and remove it from the pan. We’ll be in touch to help.
