I almost didn't buy this because of the negative reviews- but I tried it and my six year old daughter helped me to make the jam- I have made strawberry jam before and though this doesn't have any seeds, it sets perfectly and tastes lovely, my daughter is very proud of her homemade jam!

great no lumps hubby loves itby M

great to be able to have a strawberry jam with no horrible hard lumps of fruit in it if you want the lumps you can add them yourself so you have the choice. If it tasted like sweet syrup you have done something wrong mine has always been perfect its the only jam my husband likes and at least eight of my friends think the same.

Yuk!!!by K

I purchased this product whilst browsing our new Lakeland store in Milton Keynes. I opened the tin I was quite surprised at the appearance and smell of the pulp. It was very smooth and a strange shade of browny red! I decided to have a look at the reviews on the website before carrying on making it. I read the good and the bad and decided that I might as well carry on with my fingers crossed. Sadly I wish I hadn't bothered! I make lots of jams/chutneys etc and the end product was extremely unpleasant. Very sweet, doesn't taste like strawberry conserve and the colour is very strange. Yuk!!!!

most disappointing after having used marmalade which is fine. I make and bake for charity events and certainly would not put my name to this product. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand as i did not expect to have to add any other ingredients to make it edible.

Make your own Strawberry Conserve/Jamby Mrs Federico

4 stars out of 5

Prepared Strawberries

Having read the reviews for the strawberry jam I was a little apprehensive. I used 1 kg of jam sugar and decided to add 8oz of hulled and chopped strawberries, the juice of 1 lemon and only 1/4 pint of water. I let it simmer for at least an hour and did regular wrinkle tests as I went. I found it was a little sharp, so added about 2/3oz of caster sugar. Once cooled in the jars, I let them set completely in the fridge. All I can say is, this is amazing jam!! Has just the right texture and has made 5 decent sized jars. I would suggest doing the above and you won't be disappointed!!!

Ok so its liquid strawberry in a tin. I used an enamel stockpot and a sugar thermomenter for good measure, followed the instructions about rolling boil and set my timer to 10 mins, plate tested it and yes it did ripple after 2 mins in fridge so I am very pleased. It hit Jam temp easily in the 10 mins. Can we have more flavours please, its a sloppy set rather than a stiff Jam. Very nice in a victoria sponge!

Very disappointingby Sandra Lawrence

I am surprised Lakeland are putting their name to this product. It's easy enough to make - follow the instructions and you'll get sweet, red gloop, but it has no texture whatsoever, a synthetic flavour that overwhelmingly tastes of 'sweet' and basically resembles the very cheapest supermarket own-brand economy jam - except you had to go to the effort of making it. There is a place for a product like this in the world, but this is not the product.

I ordered this product anticipating lovely homemade strawberry jam, but was most disappointed on opening the tin. The jam produced was like the cheapest generic jam available in supermarkets. Will not be buying this product again!

Have bought marmalade many times and find it great to make and eat. But the strawberry was just awful. No fruit, dark colour and nothing like I expected. I will not be buying this again. Why not try producing raspberry instead?

I too was disappointed at first when I opened this tin. However I now make a delicious jam using a punnet of redcurrants with it. This makes it set really easily and taste delicious. Remember, strawberry jam from scratch is always hard to set and it takes away hours of preparation.

No problems.by Jane

4 stars out of 5

Prepared Strawberries

I make jam for craft fairs and tried this for the first time earlier. After read the previous reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, the smooth texture wasn't a problem, we like a seedless jam. I found the colour a little strange though, I was expecting something slightly redder and clear rather than a cloudy, reddy brown. The taste was fine, slightly sharp if anything, but definitely not too sweet. I added a tbsp of lemon juice to help with the set and used a sure set jam sugar. It set with only 3 mins of rapid boiling, making 5 jars. Overall it was fine. Any chance of a Raspberry please?

having just got married last November, we decided that homemde Christmas gifts were in order, so bought jars and hessian bags to make hampers with. We made strawberry conserve using the tinned mix and the result was superb!! EVERYONE has said how wonderful it is, especially older relatives who have false teeth and sometimes struggle with the tiny seeds in strawberry jams. i will definitely buy and use this again. it was all ready in less than half an hour and set beautifully. thank you Lakeland for yet another excellent product

I loved this!by Judith Goddard

4 stars out of 5

Prepared Strawberries

I give 4 stars to this product because it was a surprise when I opened the can - no fruit pieces! Yuk! So I added raspberries from my freezer, adjusted the amount of jam sugar, and the result was a lovely 2 Berry jam that wasn't too sweet and was a hit with all who tried it. I will buy it again and add extra fruit.

Making the most of the fruit in tins.by Mrs Edgar

5 stars out of 5

Prepared Strawberries

I love your prepared fruit it cuts out such a lot of work. They are an excellent starting point in making my preserves. I add whisky to make whisky marmalade or ginger for ginger marmalade and apricots for my apricot and orange marmalade. Strawberries are notoriously poor in setting so I automatically add more lemons or certo to get a good set and I cook down some strawberries to get the bits, although on its own it is wonderful on ice cream. I have never tried balsamic vinegar in strawberry jam but I will in 2013. Thank you Lakeland for making my life easier.

Good if you like experimentingby Mrs Evans

Prepared Strawberries

Initially disappointed by appearance of 'prepared strawberries' (colour/texture) as I expected something different. I then looked on this site at reviews and found them very helpful with suggestions for improvements. I used jam sugar to combat setting problems and a glass of cranberry juice to boost the flavour. I didn't add any water and the jam came quickly to a set. The flavour was still a little flat so I added some orange essence. The jam now tastes like Fruit Gums. I think my husband will love it. I also think it would be good in summer pudding or trifle.

Bought the jam to make with children to give as Christmas presents. Followed instructions but didn't reach setting point even after boiling for double the time stated. Also bought marmalade which was perfect and delicious.

Despite the added pectin, I boiled for three times as long as stated and it wouldn't set. And there does not seem to be any fruit in it. Will not be using again. Can I give it no stars?
