Insulated Butter Dish

Sorry, but since I moved abroad its no good, butter rock hard in fridge and very runny when not. Mind you the lid don't seem to fit very well, that might have something to do with it not working right )o:

Insulated Butter Dish

I realise, now and too late, that I should have bought the alternative traditional butter dish. Basically, this dish is upside down and means that block butter is difficult to place inside and impossible to extract ! The design details were not originally stated, although now the differences between the two dishes are clear. That does not help me, however.

great but discoloured now by Lynsey

Insulated Butter Dish

Had this for a considerable time and used with no problems but recently started using the crystal salt butter in it and the bottom has discoloured, maybe as a result of the salt crystals?

I bought my dish while visiting my family. I now live in Hawaii and you can never keep butter out. It works wonderfully. My friends want them also.

EXCELLENT!by Kathleen

Insulated Butter Dish

I have been using this butter dish for 4 - 5 years, it works well, goes in the dishwasher and still looks as good as new. We live in France and get real variation in temperature, in winter the temperature can drop as low as -15°C whereas summer it is regularly in the high 30's. We never feel the need to put the dish in the fridge in summer and we always have spreadable butter in winter! The only small quibble I have with the dish is that it isn't large enough to take the 500g blocks of butter on sale in French supermarkets. I would certainly recommend this product.

Insulated Butter Dish

Handled intelligently, this INSULATED butter dish worked very well in ambient temperatures up to 37? in a warm Cyprus September. However, it can only smooth the temperature changes it is neither an active refrigerator nor an oven. Anticipation is needed transferring it to and from the fridge. Perhaps some of your customers have been confused by the claim on the box that it "maintains (sic) your butter at an even temperature".

Insulated Butter Dish

This butter dish is what I have been looking for for a long time !! Sturdy, unbreakable - obviously as it is stainless steel - looks good and keeps the butter very spreadable.

Insulated Butter Dish

I bought this as I was leaving the UK for Cyprus. It reached a record 45.6 C this year, now, no butter dish is going to cope with that, however it does very well up to about 33c. In terms of construction I have had no problems at all it goes in the dishwasher no problem although I tend to handwash it. The type of butter may cause problems cheaper brands tend to be softer. I buy a good brand and I have never had runny butter so am very happy with the dish and think that it has had a pretty robust trial.

Works in Hertfordshire!by Mrs Thompson

Insulated Butter Dish

We have used one of these dishes for over 5 years and it really does a good job of maintaining the butter in a spreadable state in all weathers. Yes, on very hot days it gets a bit soft, but it's definitely better than a single skinned dish and it is very robust. Very pleased.

Waste of moneyby Mrs Jameson

I wish I had read the reviews before buying. Keeping the dish in the fridge, the butter is rock hard. Keeping it out of the fridge, the butter runs like oil. What a waste of money.

had 3, all broke.by richard

Insulated Butter Dish

ive now had three of these dishes in total, all three handles came off the lid. they are poorly made and do not insulate anyway because the lids as well as having poorly welded handles do not fit exactly anyway. save yourself a lot of time and money, buy something else, these should have been discontinued a long time ago in my opinion.

Disappointed!!!by Mrs Fatima Paruk

Insulated Butter Dish

Living in Dubai.....and realising that the Lakeland is another brand easily available....was a dream come true!!! Limited stock....but a Lakeland here is great!! In all my awe.....I was really thrilled with the fact that the butter dish was updated from plastic to stainless steel! Was I disappointed when after having recommending your product to over a dozen people, the butter dish did not keep the butter at a spreadable temperature after having placed it in the fridge..thereafter melting to a liquid form in room temperature...I sure was annoyed!!! The price and the product! An instant recall should be done!!!

This butter dish not only looks great but also keeps the butter at a nice spreadable consistency in our coolish kitchen. I would recommend this product.

Lukewarm...by Melissa

Insulated Butter Dish

My mum had the previous (plastic) version of this butter dish and it worked excellently. I was given this updated stainless steel version as a gift for Christmas '08, and although it is stylish and well-made it doesn't keep the butter at a useable consistency (...it is pretty much rock-hard!). Also, a few small rust marks have developed in the interior of the dish (these appeared after storing some highly salted butter in it, not sure if that had something to do with it!). If I had bought this with my own money I'd be quite disappointed.

great butter dishby Rosemary

Insulated Butter Dish

I was rather sceptical about this dish's performance and also the fact that it had some negative reviews but I went ahead and bought it anyway and I have not been disappointed. I have had this butter dish for a few weeks now and I have to say it keeps my butter in perfect condition, even when the kitchen is very hot or cold. I only put half a block in at a time as there are only two of us in the house now. Highly recommended.

What size is it ?by Mark

3 stars out of 5

Insulated Butter Dish

I am struggling to make sense of the size information which says the dish is suitable for a block of butter that is: 3 x 8 x 5cm (4¾" x 3¼" x 2"). Firstly the order of the dimensions is different for cm and inches (the longest length is in the middle for cm and at the start for inches), but also the cm and inch values seem to bear no relationship to each other. Maybe it should be: 3 x 8 x 5cm (1¼" x 3?" x 2") or: 11½ x 7¾ x 4¾cm (4¾" x 3¼" x 2") or (the block of butter I just measured): 11½ x 7¾ x 4¾cm (4¾" x 3¼" x 2¾").

Insulated Butter Dish

I've had this butter dish for a while now, & I love it. I don't like keeping my butter in the fridge and therefore got this dish so I could leave it out on the side so the butter would be spreadable when needed. I've had no problems weather it be in warm or cool temperatures. Very Happy

disappointedby Sarah

1 stars out of 5

Insulated Butter Dish

I have bought 2 of these dishes - one for a spanish apartment and one for home in UK. I am disappointed with the UK performance already - the butter is not spreadable at all, £12 for an item that doesn't work is money wasted. I will take the other to Spain and see how it fairs there....on reading the other reviews I am obviously not alone in being disappointed.

Very happy, highly recommend itby Bron

Insulated Butter Dish

I can relate wholeheartedly to Nicky Gordon's review. I bought this as I HATE paying extra for "spreadable" butter in a container and the plastic waste that goes with that. It might seem expensive but is not when I consider that the ~pound I have subsequently saved on each 8 oz / 250g block of simple paper-wrapped butter quickly paid for the butter dish, which I am quite sure will "see me out". It is very sturdy and well made; attractive too. As I take a long time to consume the butter I wipe over the outside regularly to keep fingerprints at bay. I live in a very variable climate (Australia) and leave it out on the work surface all the time - in all weathers. In the recent 43-46C (109-116F) bushfires heatwave, I did not have any problems with the consistency of the butter. Yes, it was soft on those terribly hot days, but certainly not liquid. Once, long ago, I chilled it in the fridge before a expected hot day and then put it out again to become "spreadable", but the butter has been so satisfactory, I have not thought to do it again. The inside bottom is a little scratched from the knife, but this is unimportant as the only person who sees that is the washer-upper !

We have our butter out year round, regardless of the weather, and it's always good to go in this butter dish. Never regretted buying it.
