I thought long and hard before I bought this bread machine, as I, like many others, had tried bread machines before and I was not impressed at all.
I am so glad that I did buy it as the results have been perfect every time. The machine comes with an excellent instruction book, containing lots of wonderful recipes and the free Simply Good Bread book is such a bonus - so many wonderful ideas in there and not just for loves of bread. There are many tips, or you can let your imagination run wild making up your own recipes. The seed etc, dispenser is also a bonus, everything is always evenly dispersed and the delayed timer is perfect for early mornings or to come home to.
I would not hesitate to recommend this bread maker to anyone who wants the convenience of fresh home made bread without the hassle of being tied to the kitchen.

I've been making gluten free bread every day for over 10 years now & in that time I have worked to death many different bread machines (approx 1 a year). I purchased this model from Lakeland 3 years ago and it still going strong. Every loaf is identically delicious & well risen as the last.
All who know me, know that I am a kitchen gadget Queen, but this is the product that I rate the most & would not be without. Although it's more expensive than some other models, its been worth every single penny. I can't rate this highly enough, especially if you are making gluten free bread

Firstly, I have to disagree with the reviewer who suggested that there is no way of cancelling a programme once started. She is clearly using an older model of Panasonic breadmaker, and not the SD-257. If you need to cancel a programme, simply press and hold the start button until the display clears of the previous settings.
This is the second breadmaker I have owned. I practically gave up on the original 'cheap' one because it was good for nothing except making pizza dough. This one is such a breath of fresh air. I make fresh bread every single day (and sometimes twice a day!), and the whole family are addicted to the stuff.
Unfortunately, I have recently discovered that I am wheat intolerant, so can't now partake in the delights of the lovely doughy fresh bread it produces, but have started to experiment with different gluten-free options. I haven't yet stumbled upon a recipe I'm completely happy with yet, so any suggestions welcome!!
Otherwise, a superb breadmaker.
