Lakeland Foldaway Silicone Steamer

I think this is excellent, folds flat and saves so much space. I use it as a colander, to wash vegetables, as an organic bin whilst cooking, steaming too obviously etc. It fits nicely in several sized pans. As it is dishwasher safe I can use all the time without having to scrub. My husband did manage to burn it a little whilst steaming veggies by putting the gas at full blast over the sides, but it survived ok, thankfully. Very good quality.

Lakeland Foldaway Silicone Steamer

Before buying this product I read the reviews taking note of the negative ones as well. Having used the steamer on numerous occasions now, I think any problems people have had are because they let the water touch the bottom of the steamer, and this makes the cooking process slower. If the steamer is raised above the water (and you only need a little bit in the bottom of the pan), then it cooks just as quickly as any other steamer I have tried. It is an excellent product, and I love the way it stores flat and fits any pan.

Lakeland Foldaway Silicone Steamer

I have used this at home now, for ages, just as a very good steamer. But I also like to cook when on holiday, and self catering places never have steamers, so I took this as part of my "Gite kit", as it is so easy to pack. I used it every day, not only to steam but also to strain boiled food eg pasta, to shake washed lettuce, and as a fruit bowl. Well done Lakelands!

Lakeland Foldaway Silicone Steamer

I have used a pyrex steamer with 'plastic' baskets for years but now I need to replace the baskets. This silicone steamer took so long to cook the vegetables that I gave up and finished them off in the microwave.
