Phew! I have just eaten the first pud that I have cooked in my new pudding steamer.
It was the best meat pudding I have ever made, apparently ALMOST up to mother-in-laws' standard!
I read the reviews before I bought, and took in the comments, including measuring my pans, I used a stew pan.
You MUST read the opening/closing instructions on the box. It is simple to open, but only if you read how to do it.
The pudding slipped out perfectly, beautifully crisp & golden.

I was delighted when my husband bought this for me for a birthday present as covering a Christmas pudding with greasproof paper and string etc for cooking is such a faff. It took a while to work out the system for opening and closing the basin but it worked a treat. Unfortunately, I encountered a big problem with the basin when I tried putting it into my steamer as the handles protruded too far and it wouldn't fit in. I solved it by digging out my huge stock pot but it was rather like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut and such a shame it hadn't been thought through in the designing. I must say that the non-stickness of the basin worked a treat and the pudding turned out like a dream. Perhaps folding handles (or none) would have saved my disappointment.

I had one Lakeland Pudding steamer which I filled with
my Christmas Pudding mixture, an absolute dream. I had so much mixture left over I had to prepare them in the traditional way with bowls, greasproof, string etc - so time consuming and a lot of messing around. I was so fed up with them, I ordered another Lakeland 1 Litre pudding steamer as they are absolutely brilliant. I was able to feed the pudding with brandy every so often just by taking off the lid and then replacing it. I haven't even bothered feeding the others too much hassle. Well done Lakeland a brilliant product and so easy to turn out - looked very professional
