EvenSlice

I have the Evenslice and I love it but I have just had a replacement hip and my sister-in-law is here looking after me and she cannot use it. Perhaps if the part that holds the loaf was made longer or an attachment included for the loaf to rest on while being cut, it would, I think, eliminate the problem. Maybe I might try and make something but it would be better if it was part of the set up.

Disappointing for Lakelandby Mrs Moxham

1 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I was so looking forward to getting home and trying my Evenslice but unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectation. Firstly the size of my freshly baked bread seemed too large to fit on the plate and so squashing the loaf onto it made for uneven slices. Also it is very awkward to hold the loaf against the plate while cutting and therefore I don’t feel safe when using the knife. It is now relegated to the back of the cupboard. Unusual for a product from Lakeland!

EvenSlice

I was excited to receive the EvenSlice as a much wanted gift but unfortunately it has not lived up to expectations. It’s awkward to hold the loaf against the plate whilst cutting, is not non slip after the first couple of slices when a few crumbs have found their way under the base, and regardless of the number of times or different bread types I’ve tried can only manage about 2 even slices from a whole loaf. Slices on the thinner settings are also impossible. Perhaps using old or crustier bread might get a better result but that’s not how I want mine so I’ll be searching for an alternative.

Perfect slices every time!by James

4 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

Simple to use, perfect slices every time! A couple of minor issues though: - None of the thickness settings are particularly thick, I'd label them as: - Wafer Thin - Very Thin - Thin - Normal I'd much prefer there was a thicker option, instead of the near useless "wafer thin" setting. - Regarding the plastic at the bottom. I too am concerned by this, but I see that this strip is removable, does this mean replacements are available? - Measure the width of your loaf before buying, it really won't work for loaves over 12cm wide as it states.

Great, but one problemby Rachel

4 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

This is a great product, it got me baking bread again. Putting it on a towel helps the sliding around that occurs once you've cut a few slices and crumbs get underneath the rubber bottoms. The only problem is that, like a previous review said, the little plastic piece at the bottom of where you cut started to be pretty cut through after about 6 months. It would have been better made of metal or something. Or it should come with a few replacements.

Good slicer, but problemsby Mike

3 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

Don't get me wrong, with a good bread knife, this works very well. However, it has a few faults. The most popular bread maker at the moment is the Panasonic one. However, the loaves it bakes are slightly too wide for this slicer, so you have to squeeze the loaf in. So, a broader slicer would be better. Despite all the thickness settings, I always have to use this on its thickest one. Any others seem far too thin. The bottom block gets cut through! Please, PLEASE, Lakeland, supply us with replacement blocks! I would even pay! So, not ideal.

Rather disappointing...by Mrs Ruth Kemp

2 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

The problem I found with this product is that it is just not wide enough, so I have to squeeze the sizes of the loaf to get it to sit inside the cutting guide. This makes the loaf distorted before you start cutting which completely messes up the idea of getting an even slice! My bread maker only produces smallish loaves anyway so I would imagine anyone with a regular size bread maker would find this even more annoying. It's true it is non slip and doesn't take up much room though- mine hasn't moved out of the back of the cupboard for many a month...

Close but no cigarby Colin

2 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I was really looking forward to using this product as getting even slices of bread is a bit of a challenge. However I was disappointed to find that although in theory this an excellent idea in practice it fails in two important areas. 1 it simply isn't wide enough. Loaves have to be squeezed into position and have to be kept there with considerable force otherwise you end up with a wedge shaped slice. 2 I'm not comfortable slicing right down to the bottom as I'm not sure if I'll end up cutting into the plastic base. If these two problems were sorted then this would be a great piece of kit.

Great piece of kitby Mr Coe

I love this, no assembly required, to open, you just rotate the rubber base all the way around until it clicks and your on your way to cutting great even slices. The rubber base doesn't slip either. I hand bake without the use of a bread machine and I use a Lakeland 2lb loaf tin and I found my loaf just fitted in. I could see why a bread machine loaf might be too wide.

PLEASE - save your money!by samantha

1 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I have been a loving lakeland customer for years ....BUT, this is an awful product. 1. As noted by other reviewers it can't handle a normal sized loaf as it isn't wide enough. I bought it for cutting bloomers, cobs etc and they don't fit unless you turn them on their side. 2. The whole unit is quite flimsy, and because of the angle you have to apply a lot of pressure to hold the bread in place, thus squashing it 3. For something with so few components it is an incredible faff to assemble ready for use Sadly, I threw the box away before using it so can't return it - learn from my mistake!

Disappointedby Mrs Nichols

2 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

As I have been so impressed with most of Lakeland's products over the past 30 years, I decided to buy the Evenslice for my homemade bread. I have tried numerous times and sometimes get a few good slices but usually I find it difficult to fit the loaf onto the base and hold it firmly enough. I didn't want to give up so every so often I try again but I am still making a bit of a mess of my slices. Perhaps with less crusty bought loaves it might work well but if I want to buy a loaf I would buy a ready sliced one anyway. Sorry, it seems a great idea but doesn't work for me.

So far, So good!by Mrs Shelley

I took a gamble ordering this as there were so many mixed reviews. However, I am pleasantly surprised at how effective and simple it is to use. So far, all my slices have been nice and even and the machine is easy to put together and is very stable.

Works wellby Jane

4 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I had the previous version of the easy slice and wasn't that impressed. Now many years later I've bought another breadmaker and as my teenagers seem unable to cut anything other than huge doorstops, I decided to try again. This version works so much better although the "thick" setting is "normal" for us, I can't see when we would want thinner. I would dispute the integrated crumb catcher idea as my one gripe is that there are always crumbs everywhere but that is boys constantly going back for more not the slicer. You do need a really good bread knife though, makes a world of difference.

Not for Meby Mrs Wade

1 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I couldn't wait to try the Evenslice when I got it home, after struggling to slice fresh bread from my wonderful Kenwood breadmaker, however I am really disappointed,my loaves do not fit onto the Evenslice well enough for me to get 'Even slices' and I have tried all sizes of loaves, it just is not wide enough and I end up with paper thin or door wedge slices.

Rubiks Cubeby Mrs Wydell

EvenSlice

Have used my slicer for a month now and am very pleased with it. It does require a little getting used to but the most difficult thing I found was setting it up - I strongly advise anyone with a poor memory like mine to cut out the picture on the box and keep it for future use - it has more variations than Rubiks Cube and just as difficult to solve, works great though!

Excellentby Emma

4 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I purchased this yesterday, before reading the reviews. I agree that the Evenslice could do with being a little wider however, turning the loaf of bread around solved this problem for me. The slicer did slip on the worksurface but a square of Slip-a-Grip did the trick! For me this gadget means that my husband can stop moaning about having to slice bread and I can relax safe in the knowledge that triangular loaves of bread are now a thing of the past!

Best Tool Since Sliced Breadby Mrs Vickery

5 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I was dubious at first about buying an EvenSlice after reading some of the reviews. I have only used the tool once and I am really satisfied with the way it cuts. My loaf was still slightly warm and it still did the job well. All you need is a little patience, make sure the bread is pushed well into the machine and supported. I would certainly recommend the EvenSlice. It fits easily into the cupboard as well.

Love it, Love it, Love it !!!!!by Miss Dunmore

5 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I bought this as I was having terrible trouble cutting my freshly baked bread. As I make small loaves from the Morphy Richards breadmaker this is absolutely ideal, and I now could not live without it. When you first get it you have to experiment on the thickness of the slice that you prefer, but it's great that it gives you 7 options. I can now cut perfectly thin slices for when I'm using a Toastie Bag or slightly thicker for my sandwiches. If you are having trouble cutting that perfect slice time and time again, then look no further. The EvenSlice really does what it says on the tin.

My most disappointing buy from Lakelandby Angela

1 stars out of 5

EvenSlice

I bought one of these some time ago to slice bread I make in my bread machine as I'm really rubbish at slicing bread with a knife. After quite a few attempts, it was relegated to the back of the cupboard - I guess I should have returned it. My rubbish had slicing was more even than the so-called EvenSlice! Last week, I rediscovered it and have been trying again but still with no success. The bread comes out a lot thicker at the bottom and the adjustable plate just won't stay in position. It's back to the "old-fashioned" way for me.
