We’re constantly on the lookout for innovative products, so we teamed up with the BBC Good Food Show to launch a nationwide competition to find the next kitchen 'must-have'. There were hundreds of entries, but our panel of judges agreed unanimously that this winning invention was exactly what we were looking for.

There's all that empty space at the bottom of the oven, and sometimes all you want is an extra rack, especially when it comes to dinner parties or Sunday roasts. Designed by a Lakeland customer, this ingenious free-standing, stainless steel rack sits on the base of the oven and instantly adds a shelf – hence the name.

Fantastic if you've got a big family to feed, it enables you to cook an extra dish and save energy, with room still left to warm the plates. It doesn't take up any extra storage space either – when you're not using it, just leave it at the bottom of the oven!

Fits ovens over 38cm (15") wide, and is safe up to 230°C (avoid direct contact with the element or flame).

Oven Add-a-Shelf

Having read the mixed reviews for this shelf I decided to take the plunge and purchase one and I haven't been disappointed. The first time I used it there was an unpleasant smell coming from the oven. So I have simply cut the rubbery feet off with a sharp knife (which was very easy). I can't really see why they were there in the first place. Now it doesn't matter what type of oven I use there is no smell and it works fine.
It is a great tool for saving the amount of time that the oven needs to be on as I can get more baking trays in at a time.

Oven Add-a-Shelf

Hurrah for Lakeland getting this into their catalogue. I can't count the number of times I've moaned that my oven needs an extra shelf. I did wonder about the price, and quality of the piece before it arrived, but I'm so glad I ordered. The construction is superb, very solid, and it fits beautifully into both my main oven and the small second/oven/grill. I know this is one piece of kit that will be used time and time again.

HOORAY!!!!
I've lost count of the times that I had wished I had an extra shelf, as I've tried to juggle my trays of baking. This is going to be a great time & money saver, now that I can cram even more into my oven (I'm a great one for batch baking & freezing).
I was worried that it wouldnt fit, as my oven is 'just' 15" wide but it fitted a treat. This definitely worthy of the Lakeland name :-)
