After reading the reviews regarding the rusting of the syringe icing kit, I wonder if users have tried placing the unit (without the plastic parts) in a warm oven to dry completely after washing. I have being doing this succesfully for the last 3 months and to date have not had a problem with rusting. This tried and tested method was suggested by my husband (who is an engineer) and is what they do at a well known UK company.

I bought this earlier this year to decorate my daughter's "barbie" cake - and it was a huge success! This is my first attempt at decorating a cake, and I found this gorgeous set really easy to use. The tin is adorable, and really handy for keeping the bits together. The only reason I dropped a star is because I received a set with rust inside the drum which was promptly replaced by Lakeland's amazing customer service. But since then, I have been paranoid about drying it really carefully before putting it away to avoid the rust. And if it's dishwashable - that would be a bonus.

I couldn't wait to try this out but have to admit I was quite disappointed. I found the metal handles quite awkward to hold and also hurt my fingers when using certain icing as I had to push quite hard. Also as it's metal it conducted the heat from my hands so can make the icing quite soft and runny.
But practice makes perfect and I will persevere and hopefully I will come to love the product as much as I love the tin!
