How lazy can you get!!by Victoria

Lakeland Egg Boiler

I bought this as I needed cheering up after a bad day at work! I tried it for the first time this morning with excellent results so much better than using a saucepan. I will be using this product every time we want a boiled eggs! Ease of use is fantastic with an audible alarm once the eggs are ready, which is dependant on the presence of water (and vinegar if used). If you are having any doubts in buying this product buy it if you like boiled eggs! Oh and buy the egg piercer 10897 from Lakeland as it easier to use than the tool provided.

Superb gadgetby Sarah Jane

5 stars out of 5

Lakeland Egg Boiler

This neat, simple to use gadget is simply perfect. I have used it for soft, medium and hard boiled eggs and each time the results have been just right. Minimal mess, no fuss, and I don't have to boil up water, and then fuss around with a timer.

Trial and Errorby Gail

Lakeland Egg Boiler

I bought this product a few weeks ago. It is good but you do need to do trial and error. The first time I did the eggs I followed the instructions but the eggs were very snotty. I have played around with it and have managed to get the eggs better since. However a great product and no need to watch over a saucepan which is perfect with a young family.

Great product at a great price. Be prepared to experiment.by Mr Tubb

Lakeland Egg Boiler

I bought this Egg Boiler to avoid need to watch over a pan. For first 2 eggs I spiked the pointy end as instructed but found the whites escaped out the hole during cooking. Subsequent eggs I pierced the blunt end & put them in the tray pointy end down & results are great. I use large supermarket eggs & boil straight from fridge. I fill water measure to just above the 1 soft egg mark. Lid handle design looks nice but is awkward. I now line the lid handle up with the on/off switch during use making it easy to lift the hot lid. I would say experiment a little to get the best from this product.

Disappointedby Jean

Lakeland Egg Boiler

Good idea and is much easily than doing eggs in a pan. I really wanted to have dippy eggs to be able to put my toast in but this product tends to cook the yolk too much and thats using the required water for soft eggs. Perhaps I've just been unlucky. Looking at the reviews there does seem to be a mixture of comments. Just wish I had received one that gave perfect results.

Lakeland Egg Boiler

I have used one of these for some time, and I also find the issue of safety worrying. The handle is difficult to grip without touching the hot metal, and the steel part gets very hot. The water measure is quite hard to read, with small numbers, and it is a bit of a performance getting the amount right. Having said all that, it does the job of boiling eggs quite accurately, and as I am prone to walk away and forget the eggs, I find it very useful: the alarm is loud and strident. I just wish it was better designed. Having said that,

Lakeland Egg Boiler

I'm always rushing around at breakfast time so wanted an egg boiler I could set and leave. I'd read some of the less enthusiastic reviews but I'm really glad I bought anyway. I use the measuring cup as in the instructions and I get perfect eggs for me every time. Bonus is I can dry my hair and get ready for work, just keeping an ear open for the buzzer. I have found an extra use for the lid too...I turn it upside down over the sink plug-hole and fill it with the eggs and cover with cold water...cools the eggs and no burnt fingers!!

Disappointedby Roy

Lakeland Egg Boiler

Having read rave reviews I bought one. My wife has a boiled egg for breakfast every day & sometimes I slip in 2 for myself. It has always been difficult to get them just right. Not runny, not hard but soft. I really hoped this was the answer. I carefully followed instructions, read again & again. Added quantity of water for 1 egg soft boiled. Was runny. Moved onto medium scale & starting at 7 egg point went on up. Still runny. Finally gone on to hard scale & find that using 7 egg mark sometimes gives me what I want but sometimes going hard. Is it really not for 1 egg?

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. It does help when you use eggs at room temperature, rather straight from the fridge.

I have had 2 of these egg boilers and both lasted about 6 months and then just stopped working? We checked the obvious fuse etc but nothing would make it work again, so I purchased a second one and guess what well it made 7 months this time, still love them but wish they would work for longer...

I didn't k now what to expect with this product but I am glad I purchased it. Easy to use and easyish to clean (the stainless steel bottom on mine has discoloured) Pop in the eggs add the right amount of water and forget about it. No watching the pan or clock, and not at a huge cost.

Lakeland Egg Boiler

I've tried this numerous times and can't get them to cook eggs soft or medium they always come out hard. We bought this as we were always making our eggs hard and hoped this would help us get eggs softer but it doesn't work. All I want are dippy eggs!!

Fantastic egg boilerby Denise

5 stars out of 5

Lakeland Egg Boiler

Fantastic egg boiler. Never tried it on soft or medium eggs but 100% success on hard boiled. Can't be bothered to heat water in a pan, time eggs etc. For perfect boiled eggs I use eggs at room temperature (never straight out of fridge or they won't shell). Pierce, place in boiler, add water and switch on. Wait until buzzer goes. Rinse under cold water for 10 - 20 seconds and shells will fall off. Just can't recommend this product enough.

Ruined Eggsby Shane

1 stars out of 5

Lakeland Egg Boiler

Soft boiled eggs came out virtually raw with the middle still cold, so thought I would try medium, they came out hard boiled... white of the egg spilled out of hole and made a mess on the heating plate and has left burn marks. Would like to return this for a refund but it has now been used. On this example I CANNOT recommend this product, perhaps its faulty, don't know, but it will probably end up in the bin. If I could give it no stars I would. Full marks to Lakeland, full refund given with no arguments. Did not like the product but the customer service is second to none.

Lazy eggsby David

5 stars out of 5

Lakeland Egg Boiler

Bought one of these because I am too lazy to boil a saucepan of water and then wash said saucepan up. I can't tell you about soft boiled eggs but if you put 7 eggs in here, having pierced the blunt ends with the now metal spike on the measuring cup, add the maximum amount of water and go off and do something else for 20 minutes (that's the time for 7 eggs), you can come back when you hear the loud buzzer and it's job done, every time. You can now spend a happy 10 minutes burning your fingers off to remove the shells. Now cleaning, what you don't want to do. Just wipe dry the top and middle tray. Spray something on the stainless steel tray at the bottom and wipe clean and the jobs done. I'm not sure cooking eggs can ever be made any easier, so if you can't do this, just eat something else instead.

Great Little Boilerby Margaret Goose

5 stars out of 5

Lakeland Egg Boiler

I bought two egg boilers last Christmas-----one for my niece and one for my nephew as they had both recently set up home with their partners. I thought they might have said not another gadget but they really raved about them. It saves them time in the morning getting breakfast and they are left out on the work surface as they are used so often. I was an A1 auntie but what do I get this year to top that ? I think I shall have to buy one for myself now!

Best kitchen gadget for yearsby Jan Field

5 stars out of 5

Lakeland Egg Boiler

My egg boiler is quite simply the cleverest and most effective kitchen gadget that I have bought for years. It has been in use nearly every day since I received it 3 weeks ago. The instructions are fine but you only need to scratch the top of the egg, not pierce it, and you will get perfect eggs every single time. No messing with saucepans and timers and kitchens full of steam. Maybe it could be improved slightly by making it easier to grip the lid to remove it when it is hot, the handle is very smooth and not easy to get hold of. This is only a slight problem and doesn't really detract from the overall brilliance of the gadget.

Simply brilliant!by Mrs Jane Jarvis

5 stars out of 5

Lakeland Egg Boiler

I'd seen some not-so-good reviews here, so awaited my delivery with some trepidation. Worry not! Simply follow the instructions exactly and all will be well. The only thing I ensure is to gently pierce the pointed end of the egg, but not right the way through. Result? Perfect eggs, incredibly quickly. I'm now trying to convince my husband that he can easily make breakfast in bed for me for a change!
