This cake leveller is magic I purchased it for use in splitting the height of cakes when decorating, recommend it to anyone.

This product is excellent, you just need to know how to use it, I am a professional cake decorator and use this daily... It is one of my must have items!! You just need to get the knack of using it.
I WOULD NOT use it for a fruit cake, but cuts all my sponges no problem, you do need to slice from left to right while pulling forward.... Use a little pressure to start, then it slices with ease... it does work :o))

Very disappointed with this. I agree, too good to be true. I first tried it on a fruit cake but it just pushed the cake along the work top. I hoped it would be more effective with a sponge but it wasn't. I tried a 'sawing' action but holding the leveller with one hand, steadying the cake and trying to stop the other end from going in the wrong direction just made this product useless. I suggest that perhaps the wire becomes more of a serrated blade? Oh, and the frame has gone rusty too. The product is a good idea but needs a lot of tweaking. It may be good for cutting through jelly though...
