Soda Stream Pure Drinksmaker

I received this for my last birthday, and absolutely love it. I drink sparkling water almost exclusively, so I get a lot of use out of it, but I don't know how good the mixes are. Its footprint on the worktop is small, it makes great seltzer, and it even looks good. I would suggest you buy an extra cartridge if you're planning on using it regularly, though, as the places to exchange them are few and it requires a special trip- frustrating in the middle of a busy week.

I love my soda stream! Bought it to make fizzy water primarily but have used the syrups as well. The water retains its fizz better than I thought it would & the syrups (cola & lemonade) are pleasant to taste and are refreshing. Its also easy to use. I've also found it easy to exchange canisters as I looked on the soda stream website & lots of high street shops swap them. I've done this twice with no problem & no messing about with packaging & postage!

A great product - elegant looking, easy to use and makes fabulous fizzy water. Great for encouraging you to drink more water - and you can have it as fizzy or as gently sparkling as you want (and the fizz doesn't disappear as I feared it might). The only reasons I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 are (a) the boxes supplied for returning the empty cannisters are not that easy to assemble - ie you need copious amounts of parcel tape to make them up, and (b) you have to pay postage on the refills. I had (mistakenly) assumed from the catalogue that it refills were postage free. They are in terms of returning to Lakeland but not for getting them sent out to you. So it works out more expensive than I had anticipated. All that said, a fantastic product! ************************************** Added to original review in Feb 2010: point (a) no longer applicable - ie difficult to assemble return boxes requiring copious amount of parcel tape. The return boxes have now been improved and are easy to use.

Soda Stream Pure Drinksmaker

Thirty five years ago my father told me that he saw how people in fast food shops made fizzy drinks. "There is a machine where they put in syrup and a gas cylinder, and they just press the button." He said. I was sceptical as I had visited a fizzy drinks factory and saw what a complicated process it was. I should have believed my dad, because today I drank my first glass of home-made lemon-ginger fizzy drink less than 10 minutes after the courier handed the parcel to me. This apparatus takes up next to no space, consumes no power, is pleasing to the eyes and it works! This is the very thing that I won't give away for anything.

Soda Stream Pure Drinksmaker

Lakeland delivered quicker than stated, which is great also the price was the best I could find and it had the free bottle of concentrate. The Pure make superb sparking water and drinks. I would recommend it, especially as no more carting of 2L pop and water bottles and subsequent recycling. One small downside is that the spill tray is taped on for transit purposes, however when I removed the tape it left the glue behind and is a pain to clean off; otherwise its brilliant.
