Great Machine!by Anna

5 stars out of 5

Pasta Machine

I was a bit worried about using a pasta machine and had visions of a sticky mess! However, using '00' flour worked really well. It's quite tough and elastic to knead, but it rolls well and doesn't stick to the machine. I use one medium egg for 100gm of flour, two for 200gm etc. Mine will not fix to my worktop - not enough overhang, so I use my table. The handle does fall out quite often. Suggest you get help if doing a lot - it's quicker and less tiring! I feed in the dough and turn the roller, my daughter catches it. Have made tagliatelle many times now - cooks in 2 minutes and is lovely.

Pasta Machine

Just bought yesterday made my 1st ever pasta and its brilliant, made lasagne no need for attachment just put through machine to setting 3 or 4 no fancy edges but who see's it when it's covered with sauce. Taste's just the same but no frills so why waste money on attachment.

Pasta Machine

Ordered this online from Lakeland, fast, free and efficient delivery. Couldn't wait to use it and when I did I was so impressed with the result. Pasta dough is very easy to make and from start to finish the meal took less than an hour, including resting and rolling the dough. Pasta machine was so easy to use and the result was fantastic. I can't wait to use it again and again and have a feeling that homemade pasta will be a weekly occurrence in our house now! Well done Lakeland, another fantastic product.

Disappointedby Isaac

Pasta Machine

I am now on my 2nd of these machines having returned the 1st one under the impression that there was a fault with it. There seems to be a fundamental design flaw with the gear mechanism-when running the dough through the low gears (widest setting) the gears just stick (not the pasta) and you can’t get a smooth rotation of the rollers – it’s the same without any dough in it. … It is smoother on the higher settings but is incredibly frustrating. As others have said the handle falls out too easily also. I am taking back the 2nd one and will be looking elsewhere.

Pasta Machine

This is a great piece of kit. My boyfriend makes pasta all the time simply using pasta flour and 2 eggs. We haven't bought the ravioli attachment, we just cut circles out of very thin dough using a small cup, fill them and stick them together using a bit of egg round the edge. Perfect recipe for the filling: our supermarket do very handy small boxes of bite-sized pieces of cheese for salads which happen to fit PERFECTLY into ravioli... goat's cheese and caramelised onion variety is gorgeous - most mouth-watering pasta I've ever tasted!! And so easy to make!

Be careful!by Katie

Pasta Machine

The instructions say to wipe the scrapers with kitchen paper during use and I've just done that (first time I've used the machine) and the scraper cut right through the paper and cut my finger quite badly (badly enough to mean I've had to stop cooking). I don't know if mine is particularly sharp or what, but be careful when you clean it!

Love it already!by Mrs KNIGHTS

Pasta Machine

I received my pasta machine this morning, and I love it already! I made an 'eggless' pasta dough using just strong bread flour and water (found the recipe on the internet) - and it has worked brilliantly! I had no problems with the handle falling out - I have tried all the attachments including the lasagne cutter which I purchased as well. Only problem is the clamp - because I do not have a work top that does not have cupboards underneath it. It was difficult to get it to fit, but I got it so it did not move. Need a pasta drying stand now! How about one Lakeland?

Great Little Machineby Suzanne

Pasta Machine

I was bought this as a present as I'd always said I'd love to try and do 'real' pasta. You have to practice a few times to get the hang of it, but once you get to grips with it you won't be able to stop using it! I've now gone off dried pasta because I've done this so often! Only one drawback, which is why I've dropped a star is the handle - as said before with others - it really needs to click in but it doesn't and often falls out which is irritating.

Not Just For Pastaby Kim

Pasta Machine

We have two in our house! One is for pasta of course, but I use the other machine for conditioning polymer clay to make wedding cake toppers and jewellery. Clay is much firmer than pasta, but this machine handles it nicely, and cleans very easily as well. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a kitchen appliance or an addition to their craft room! Please note that if you use a pasta machine for polymer clay, you can never use it for food again.

Handle driving me madby Philip

Pasta Machine

Great little machine, well made and easy to work, though you will wish you had an extra hand. Only gripe is the handle is not captive when in use and falls out at the slightest knock. Maybe a bit of blue tack on the end will sort this out and make it less prone to this.

Pasta Machine

Received this as a birthday pressie from my friends at work and absolutely love it! The kids love turning the handle and watching the pasta dough get thinner and longer. Used the fettucine attachment last night and produced some beautiful pasta which was a joy to cook with and more importantly eat with smoked salmon, garlic, herbs and a squeeze of lemon juice. No washing up required (or allowed!) for the machine just dust the flour off and put back in the cupboard - my kind of gadget! The only down side is the amount of flour you end up with on your work top and floor!

We have used our pasta machine almost every day since we purchased it just after Christmas. Our 4 year old loves making his own pasta and is always telling his school teachers about Mummy's magic pasta maker!

As well as making great pasta, I have found the pasta machine great for rolling out sugar paste prior to cutting out flowers for cake decorating.

Great fun but one let downby Janet Beer

3 stars out of 5

Pasta Machine

My daughter and I had great fun trying the pasta machine. We found it a bit fiddly at first but we managed in the end and it became easier to use as we used it more. My only gripes are - the handle falls out quite easily; the recipe/instuctions were very vague and I feel these could be improved - I'd never made pasta before and was not sure about the flour to use, there is a metal strip that came with the machine and I'm not sure what it's for. My biggest disapointment is the clamp - it doesn't fit onto the side of my worktop (which is thicker). It would be great if they made this longer. I had to attach it onto my butchers trolley which wasn't ideal as it still wouldn't fit securely. However, this didn't stop us and we look forward to using it again.

Pasta Heavenby Miss Gemma Charles

Pasta Machine

I got this as a Christmas present and now I cant stop making pasta. This machine is easy to use with a handle that can be popped into the different positions very easily. It makes creating spaghetti very easy. I also have the lasagne attachment which I plan to use very soon. Just need to find a rack to hold my pasta while it dries.

Love it!by Catriona

Pasta Machine

I'd never attempted to make pasta before, but this machine made it really easy. It made lovely pasta which I then used in the Lakeland Ravioli Press which was also excellent. I would advise that you make sure you use the right kind of flour for your dough, otherwise you could end up with a sticky mess. For a smallish amount of pasta, I used: 140g '00' grade pain flour 1 egg, plus an extra yolk half a tsp olive oil half a tsp salt I would also make sure you run your dough through all the machine's settings at least twice before using it - this is supposed to improve it.

As I'm wheat intolerant, making my own spelt pasta is the tastiest alternative. And this makes it much easier.

The real stuffby Mrs Santangeli

4 stars out of 5

Pasta Machine

This is easy to use and homemade pasta is well worth the effort. It takes a bit of getting used to to know the best way to feed the pasta through, turn the handle and catch the cut pasta too but it can be done with practice. My only reservation is that you cannot wash it and it can be difficult to get into the middle to clean out any dough. I just let it dry out and then give it a good thump! Only makes flat pastas although it is possible to buy an attachment to make shapes (not from Lakeland....yet!) A great piece of kit for the pasta afficionado.
