“digital thermometer
”
by HAZEL
Very pleased with this product but I am a bit frustrated that I can't turn it off. Instead I have to take the battery out between uses, which is a nuisance.

“Manufacturing Problem?
”
by Mrs Girling
I've found this to be an incredibly useful thermometer but for the second time now the product has failed and Lakeland are sending me a replacement. I suspect that the cable is not as robust as it should be. After months of good service the probe temperature started to fluctuate wildly whilst cooking a roast, changing each second, with temperatures ranging by up to 20 degrees. Lakeland's customer service is excellent, but I do feel that the issues that several customers have had need to be resolved with the manufacturer.

“Still not convinced
”
by debbie oliver
I used this to cook my xmas turkey and produced the best turkey ever so I was completed convinced by this product, however I recently used it to cook a joint of beef to medium rare. Set it to the temp suggested but my beef was very well done. A recent chicken was still raw when it reached the suggested temp so still not sure it is worth using

“Disappointing product
”
by Mrs Mary McGrory
I have had this meat thermometer for about 5 months now. When I first took it out of the packet it seemed rather over-complicated for what I want and the instructions were poorly written. That having been said, I persevered and was able to work out how to set the temperature that I wanted my meat to reach (this being the only function I was interested in) and I found that my meat was cooked to perfection. I have probably used it about 10 times in the intervening months and it has now stopped working completely - according to the thermometer the internal temperature in my house is currently 180c!

“Poor quality build
”
by Mr Immins
I bought of these to measure the temperature of water when making beer, so it never went higher than 100C, which its then held at for an hour, then 30 mins as it cools down. After 3 goes, it started telling my the ambient temperature in my house was 75C! So, I got it replaced, and have used the new one again for 5 uses and the same thing has happened. Though its just 55C in my house now.

A note from the team: Thanks for your review. Our buyers have looked at this and think the products must be faulty, we're sorry for the inconvenience. Our supplier has confirmed that the accuracy should be +/- 2 degrees, although at the extremes of temperature this can be a little higher. It's important that the thermometer doesn't come into contact with anything else that can affect the reading such as the base or side of the pan. We'll be in touch to help.
“Broke after a few months
”
by Mr Dyke
I bought this item about 6 months ago. I am technically minded and I had no problem understanding it, the instuctions aren't perfect but it didn't take a lot of playing to get it going. Sadly as I cooked a meal a couple of weeks ago I was confused that after an hour and a half, when I expected it to be cooked the thermometer was reading about 30 degrees. I trusted the thermometer and not my instinct and ended up with a burnt roast. I would have expected this product to last longer than 3 months, sadly it now reads temperatures at random, flicks between 4 and 70 degrees.

“Disappointed
”
by G L ATKINS
Purchased a digital thermometer and on trying to set the clock found that the display did not work. Also the set up/use of this item does seem unnecessary fiddly and over complicated. The cable for the probe is rather flimsy and I would not expect it to last for long when sandwiched between an oven and oven door. I returned this to store and as assistant was very vague about the item asked for a refund as I did not want to experience a similar problem and incur another 20 mile round trip to the store if indeed there was a problem Could not fault your sales policy.

“Over-complicated and wildy inaccurate
”
by Charlie
Bought thinking this would be a valuable baking tool - how wrong I was! I'm a 25 year old male, and consider myself technically literate - and cannot work out how to use the majority of the functions! The temperature also fluctuates wildly on my unit - it will jump from 100 degrees C, to 'Hi' (too high for the thermometer to work), and then anything in between, constantly. Good points? The probe itself is relatively easy to use, and the pivoting display is handy - as are the magnets on the back, and the temperature guide. If I'd kept the packaging and receipt, it would go straight back.

“Pretty good but use a little care
”
by Mr Peter Booth
As my old meat thermometer was unreliable with smaller joints I bought this. Seems to work OK but has its limitations. Used it to test my ovens and it said thermostats were quite a bit out so tested it in a pan of oil with a couple of glass jam thermometers. At meat temperatures up to 70C seems fairly accurate, perhaps 2 C high but above 100C starts to read low and by 190C seems to be 7C low. Being electronic I would have expected more accuracy. Ok for meat cooking but take oven temperatures with a pinch of salt as the saying goes. Clip works fine - see other reviews

“Good enough for roasting a joint, no use for brewing!
”
by Bryan
I bought this for use when cooking and also while I brew, but it's not accurate enough for brewing, where I really want accuracy of a degree or so. E.g. it read 71C in my mash tun, but both my glass thermometers read 66C. Later in the brew this device read 30C but the glass ones read 26C. On an upper shelf of my fridge after 30 mins it read 16C, which I didn't even have to double check to know was nowhere near! Can't see an advertised accuracy, so don't know if it's faulty or if it's within its constraints. Can it be recalibrated, as it's not mentioned in the manual?

“Ideal for beginner jam maker
”
by Emma
I was a bit apprehensive about buying this thermometer having read the other reviews on the website. However everything else I have bought from Lakeland has been perfect so I took the risk. I have just finished making by first batch of marmalade that hasnt burnt or remained runny! I highly recomend it. I did not find it difficult to set up or use and it was a dodle to wash up. The instructions that came with it were clear and consise.

“Very Disappointing!
”
by Mr Trivedi
My first thoughts on this product when I opened it from it's packaging was that it was quite cumbersome and complicated (for what it is) to use. I figured it out anyway and decided to try it out for the first time at christmas on a rib of beef. I put the thermometer in as per the instructions and set the maximum temp alert setting. From experience it normally takes about 90 minutes for the cut to be cooked to medium, however I was very surprised when I heard the alarm going off after about 30 minutes. I decided to ignore the timer and go on instinct and took the thermometer out. When the cooking time was over I thought i'd test the thermometer reading. It read 97 degrees! The joint was cooked to a lovely medium (65ish?) so there is something wrong with the temperature gauge in there! This may only have been my one, but was very disappointed in the product!

“Very Very Complicated
”
by Mr Yoe
I just wanted a thermometer that would alert me when the internal temperature had reached a pre-selected degree. Well this may do it but I was unable to figure out how to set it, or to activate the alarm system. Cannot in any way recommend this device Lakeland have, in every way, attempted to satisfy me with my purchase, and in fact have refunded the price. My criticisms remain. This device it simply trying to be too sophisticated and succeeds only in being obtusely complicated. There are far better products on the market, and Lakeland should investigate them as the company clearly cares about the merchandise they sell.

“Excelent
”
by Peter
I've used several digital and analogue meat thermometers in teh search for the right one and this one is easily the best of the bunch. I can trust its readings completely - a 160F beef or lamb roast is a perfect medium pink in the middle, a 180F chicken is cooked perfectly. It was handy to check my fridge temperature and the oven temperature test is very useful indeed and caused me to adjust my baking times knowing exactly how my oven temperature varies on any given gas mark. It's great for preserves too, but I'm afraid that the revewers who said that the probe doesn't go through the clip haven't understood how it works. The clip is designed to grip the probe very firmly, so you have to squeeze the sides of the clip together hard and then insert the probe. When you release the pressure on the clip it grabs the probe really solidly, as it should. My hunt for the right meat thermometer is over - this one's it.

“Its good but.....
”
by O Martin
Handy to have but I agree with what others are saying. The 200 degree limit is disappointing but then again what do you expect for 20 pounds. I also like how it can store the fluctuating temperatures of your oven and let you know the coldest and hottest temperatures your oven reached when it was on. Overall it seems really accurate within its range and I'm sure will save the day when really needed.

“Handy little gadget
”
by Mrs Gladstone
Having bought umpteem oven thermometers - none of which have been that accurate - I decided to try this one. Once I'd figured out how it worked (instructions are not that easy to follow) I've only had one joint that was more rare than medium and that was probably down to me setting it too low. All in all it's a good thermometer and the lady that said the probe doesn't go through the clip, I tried it and if you squeeze the clip sides together it does go through but you might have to fiddle to get it to clip onto whatever you're using though.

“Fantastic - Only one minor issue
”
by Michelle
This thermometer was brilliant when doing my Christmas baking and sweet making. The only problem was that the probe will not fit through the holes in the clip that fits to the side of the pot. I tried several times to get the probe through the two holes of the pot clip (and even used cooking oil as a lubricant) and gave up asI was worried I would damage the probe. There are a couple of marks on it from my attempts but it still seems to work OK. I ended up using a couple of clothes pegs, one for the probe and the other on the pot. The thermometer was great when cooking the Christmas roast. My husband even checked the temperature of our fridges and ovens with it. Would recommend it, just be aware the pot clip may not work with the probe.

“A man's point of view
”
by Andrew Lawson
As a man recently enjoying making roasts I can heartily recommend this thermometer. You can set it to beep when the meat meets the required temperature. There are recommended temperatures for different meats printed on the back. - fahrenheit though - but you can set it to match the fahrenheit then flip the switch to convert it to centigrade. (Ham means pork). Now once I can get to grips with the resting process all will be perfect - by that I mean I've been setting - for example - the minimum temperature for beef - the beep goes and I remove the meat - but the meat continues to cook while 'resting' and the temperature rises - not a fault of the gadget buut it does mean I will have to learn how much 'resting' meat cooks. All in all a great thing.
