How many bananas do you throw away because they have ripened too quickly? "Too many" was the answer from Christine Coombes when she lived in the middle of the Devon countryside and could only shop once a week. Christine invented the Banana Bag – a bright yellow store for the UK's best-selling fruit.

When kept in the fridge, it provides bananas with the exact amount of insulation and air needed to stop the flesh over-ripening, while keeping the skin warm enough to prevent it blackening. Amazingly, the fruit will stay just as it should for around a fortnight – twice its normal lifespan.

Wipe-clean.

Banana Bag

I like my bananas greenish yellow and now I can keep them for TWO weeks frozen in time without ripening. The skins goes funny but inside the bananas are as fresh and creamy as the day I bought them. Take them out five minutes before you eat so they warm up a bit and then happy breakfast.

I live in Cyprus so it is very hard to keep bananas fresh. since using this bag in the fridge i can now buy in bulk and get them out 2 at a time.
Wonderful in this heat.

Yes, this bag does work. I use to end up throwing away over ripe bananas, which is such a waste, but now I can keep bananas in the bag in the fridge and they last for approx. 10 days, which is great. The only negative, is that bananas can leave black marks on the lining and as the bag is wipe clean only, it is sometimes difficult to clean - it would be great and easier, if the manufacturer could somehow allow the bag to be washed in the washing machine - but as the description clearly states it is wipe clean only, I still give the bag 5 stars.
