This is the best tinopener I have ever used. I feel totally confident allowing my children to use it, as it leaves the edges so smooth. It took me quite a while to work out that it WAS opening every tin - to start with I thought it was not working. After turning the handle and going round the whole circle of tin edge, you have to give the top of the tin quite a tug and a wiggle to remove it. This feels odd - sharp edges mean one usually avoids contact with the edges of tins - but with this its totally safe.

FANTASTIC!. i got this product for safety as i have 'ms' and tend to be accident prone. its just brilliantly safe but so very easy to use, its now a joy to open a tin.

This is possibly the most complicated can opener ever. Why has it been so over engineered? Cant get the lid off and when you do the can contents end up being squeezed everywhere. It is now in the charity box.

A note from the team: We're sorry to hear you've been disappointed with this product. We've found that the Zyliss works on many different types of can but on occasion some cans may need an extra turn of the can opener - usually the label is so close to the top of the can this can prevent a smooth cut. We'll be in touch to help.
Does not work for all tin cans!”
by Mrs Garrett
On 75% of cans the opener works brilliantly. However, there are some cans that it simply will not open (including tinned salmon & condensed milk).

We've tried so many different can openers, particularly recently - with none of them lasting or working for very long. This can opener, although a little pricey, is excellent. It does take a little time to master the technique for use, you do need to get the angle just right but once achieved the results are superb. The little 'buttons' that help you remove the cut lid can be a bit tricky but again, work well once you have the knack. I saw other reviewers say the opener wouldn't work on tuna cans, but they do, just site your can near the edge of your worktop, no problem!

Easy to use and very safe”
It took me a few tries to learn how to use this can opener. The first time I didn't think it was doing anything and I went round the can 3 times before I realised it was actually open! But once you've learnt how it's really easy and my 9 year old daughter has no problem using it either.

Fantastic tin opener”

At Last! a tin opener which works easily and leaves no sharp edges. Excellent product.

Bought this two years ago and have regretted it ever since. Thought it was just me and in time I would get the hang of it. Really good when it works, opening cans cleanly and with no sharp edges to can or lid. Sadly this seldom happens and I wonder if the problem lies in varying cans rather than the opener. A good point is that, as it has no contact with the contents of the tin, it requires no more than a wipe to keep it clean. However, it is so frustrating trying to open cans when in a hurry and having to use the dogs' old can opener that I am now looking for a replacement. Disappointing

Why did I keep my old rubish can opener for so long.”
so pleased with my purchase. It came with a 5 in 1 opener for free. But have used the can opener and wow no sharp edges! I had opened a steak pie a few day earlier and tried to lever the lid off as my old opener did cut all the way round. I cut my thumb on it, blood all over and a waisted pie. never again. If you are thinking of buying this, just do it. You wont regret it, more efficient and saver.

watch the video”
I had problems with this can opener and contacted lakeland who offered to replace or refund. So I looked at the reviews for a replacement and spotted the video on this. I could not work out how to remove the top of the can without making a mess and didn't understand the instructions on the packet. After watching the video I had another go. It worked, and was actually very simple and easy once you know how.

Dissapointing.. doesn't work on tuna cans”
I have tried a number of cans and this just doesn't seem to work on thicker cans such as tuna. To be honest I havent got it to work on a single can yet. I have issues with mobility in my hands which is why I bought this model. Please dont waste your money

We have had this a year now (we don't really do cans) and I struggle with it a lot. Sometimes it opens them fine, but sometimes it stops halfway or doesn't do a clean cut so you have to go round again and then the lids are really hard to get off once you've done it. Most times, I just revert back to our old can opener. Not impressed, especially given the price.

A note from the team: Thank you for placing your review. We're sorry you're experiencing problems with the can opener. The Zyliss Can Opener is so smooth and easy to turn that you won't believe it is actually working and at first glance you will see no evidence of cutting at all. The Zyliss removes sharp edge by rolling the top of the can over as it goes and once complete the lid just lifts off using the 'pincers' located underneath the opener. We'll be in touch soon to help.
I recently bought this product and overall am disappointed. Once you master connecting the opener on to the can I find the unit quite hard to turn. I also find that I have to go around the tins twice before I can prise the lid off. I agree that the edges are clean and safely cut which was the main purpose of purchase but can't help feeling disappointed with this product and would change it if I could.

Fiddly even if it works”
I bought this as I have arthritic fingers and thought it would be easy to grip and turn. I found it very fiddly to use. It's not easy to get it to grip the tin and more often than not it just goes round and round, not opening the tin. I bought it in store so hadn't read the reviews, if I had I wouldn't have bought it.

Zyliss can opener”
by irene duncan
I purchased this can opener last week I have found it very disappointing it does eventually open the tin but I had to turn it for a long time before that happened. I will be returning it to my local store for Lakelands no quibble refund.

I agree with the other reviews. Once I realized that the opener had opened the can and worked out how to remove lid the result was brilliant. I knew that a Lakeland product would meet my expectations, they always do!! Didn't realize there was a video to explain the lid remover - just as easy to do it by hand as the edges are so safe. Have recommended it to many devout Lakeland fans who have also bought and been impressed.

I bought this product a month ago and have found it easy to use and I am pleased with its performance. There are no sharp edges on the tin when you remove the lid and it does not require much effort to use it.even my mother who is seventy two was impressed with it.

disappointing can opener”

I bought this as I have weak wrists. I find this very difficult to use. I go round and round before the can is open. Very expensive and useless.

Good when it works”
As others have commented, this product struggles to open some cans. When it works (which it does for most cans) it is great as it avoids having sharp edged cans. It often needs two or three circuits around the can, which is fine. However there are some cans that it either really struggles to open or simply can not open, such that another 'back-up' traditional can-opener is needed - which is not what one would expect at this price.
