1st machine had a fault - Lakeland replaced it” by Isobel
I love the size of this machine, it fits very neatly into the corner of my kitchen, and is an ideal size for my needs and on the whole it does a good job. I've used the food processor occasionally and am happy with that once I worked out how to use it, but I use it mainly for the mixer, making bread and cakes and sometimes it tends to be rather rattly, nothing like as sturdy as the fullsize mixer my mother has. Also and I'm wondering if this is a serious problem - but when I put the mixer on full power, there is a strong smell of overheating. I noticed this when I first bought it 2 years ago, and thought maybe it was because it was new, but it still does it now and so I'm reluctant to use it high speeds. I'm wondering whether this is a common issue and nothing to worry about or whether it is a fault with the machine.
Update: As a result of my review, Lakeland recalled my faulty machine and replaced it with a new one and although I've only used it once so far, it does not have the above fault, and I'm happy with the replacement and the service Lakeland provided. So my rating goes up from 3 to 5 stars.
Kenwood Prospero Compact - love it” by Mrs Kilbourn
I have always wanted a Kenwood mixer but thought the large original ones were too big to keep out on a kitchen bench and know that once put away in a cupboard my kitchen gadgets tend to stay there unused. This smaller version has all the advantages of the bigger one and looks great in the kitchen.
The attachments are really easy to use and even better, really easy to clean! I have made soups using the food processor and the liquidiser, the whisk works like a dream on egg whites and the main mixer makes baking a pleasure. I have always been an "occasional" cook but this makes it so much easier that even a working mum like me can quickly produce healthy home cooked food that is a pleasure to make (and eat!)
Excellent machine” by Mary Jane
I recently bought the Prospero as I have a small kitchen and not much space. It has more than lived up to expectations and done all I require. I would thoroughly recommend it as a good all round machine and value for money.
