This is a very flimsy product not at all like the oven liner what I bought. We had a new kitchen & thought they would be great for the new hob but they slide around too much. They do not fit properly at all & look cheap. Would not recommend these at all. Have taken them off would rather clean the hob than have those on. Sorry Lakeland but have to be honest.

This product is a nice idea but honestly, it doesn't work. The fat builds up beneath the foil rather than on top of it. So, you're just as well using ordinary foil around a ring instead.

Magic Hob Liners”
by Mrs Galloway
As others have said these are fantastic and keep my stainless still hob clean and scratch free. However, with 5 burners I also have to make a patchwork of 2 from another packet. It would be good if these were sold with differing amounts in the packet. Pls consider this going forward.

I renovated my kitchen and wanted something to protect my new hob. Was happy to find something like this but it was of no use in any way. I have a standard sized hob but they were too small to cover the centre of the hob and they easily get burnt, though I tried to be very careful. I used them only for one day and now they're in store :-(

Sadly this is a very flimsy product not at all like the oven liner. It would look very messy and hence will not be using it in my lovely new kitchen. Complete waste of time and money, sorry Lakeland

I purchased two oven liners and cut out the shapes (of the five gas burners on my ceramic hob) and overlapped the sheets which completely cover the hob with just the burners and control knobs protruding through. I have to admit it took me two goes to get the holes in the right place in relationship to each other. But I have been using the original sheets for over nine months now, they are showing slight signs of wear, probably because I put them in the dishwasher every so often to clean them.

Check before you buy!”
Hi, we bought a set of these today to protect our glass gas hob (4 burners), unfortunately you have to cut the packet open before you can see the size. Unfortunately they leave a wide four inch strip down the middle between the burners and about the same along the bottom, so they are certainly not suitable for our hob, £8.99 worse off unfortunately.

I bought these to use after having my cooker professionally cleaned. Cutting them to fit proved to be very fiddly and took some time. They seem very thin and, although I haven't washed them yet worry that they will tear easily. My cooker is black and it would be nice if these protectors also came in black as they aren't very attractive and the fiddly cutting shows up and makes them look cheap.

It is very rare for me to write a negative review about anything I buy from Lakeland, but, these really are next to useless. They do not fit, they move about and do not do what it says on the packet. I would have taken them bak to the Milton Keynes shop but alas I misplaced the receipt. Sorry Lakeland but to waste £9.99 (what I paid for them) is annoying.

I agree with Mrs Redfern that a roll or larger sheet of hob liner would be great as liquid spillages can seep through the joins, even when overlapped. Men do a fair amount of the cooking in our house...............

Gone in the bin!”
Wish I had read the reviews first. A rare Lakeland product which has been binned. They are flimsy and really do add to the cleaning. They dont look good either. I have a magic oven liner so I had high hopes. These really need to be more robust. I might as well just clean the hob rather than faff about taking liners on and off, not timesaving at all. From what I can see from other reviews, many customers are saying the same. As they are, its a waste of money, until they are improved, I wouldnt advise buying them.

Extremely Disappointed - Very Flimsy, Dangerous Too!”
When I tried to fit these on my hob, I could not make them fit without the risk of them catching in the flames, despite carefully following the instructions on the pack. The hob liners are paper thin and do not feel durable. I'd expected something that would feel like thin silicon, rather than airmail paper. I am extremely disappointed with this purchase and I feel that it was a complete waste of money. I live abroad, so picked these up after a recent visit to the UK, now I will simply have to throw them away. What a complete waste of time and money. I would award no stars if it was an option.

A note from the team: Thanks for taking the time to write your review. I'm sorry that you'd been disappointed with them. It's best to cut the hole a little bigger in diameter than your hob to ensure it doesn't come into contact with the flames. I'll be in touch shortly.
I am just about to order my second lot of hob liners, as my first ones are wearing out after several years and I have been really pleased with them. I find them much easier to clean than the hob,in some soapy water. then all that is needed is a quick wipe of the hob.

Beware buying this if your hob is not flat. Our new gas hob has slightly raised burners and this product will not fit them. Nothing in the literature tells you this. Needless to say, Lakeland customer service has done the right thing. Now the challenge is to find a suitable product which will cover a hob surface that undulates.

Awful; I really wanted to like them but .........”
by Miss Jones
Despite fairly negative reviews I ordered these determined to like them. When they arrived I made sure I cut the circle in the middle wide enough to fit round the gas burners; more difficult than it sounds as it's very hard to cut an even circle on slippery material. However, when I placed my thick cast iron pan holders back on the hob I realised the liners don't stay in place. More cutting, this time around the edges of the liners. End result liners are now so small they don't make a difference & they still move around. Have binned them and gone back to washing down the hob each night!

I bought this hob liner and hoping them to cover the burnt mark on my enamel gas hob. But, they are not great at all! They don't stay at the same place and for just a couple of days, they were burnt. Luckily, I found Ovenmate which was brilliant, so, I just put them aside.

The liners do nothing, in fact they added to cleaning. Being 4 separate squares they allowed seepage to underneath.

Bought these a while ago - they are flimsy the move about and catch alight also they are aesthetically horrid. Took them off to trim the burnt patch and wipe the hob because food and liquid gets between the squares put them to one side but have not been able to bring myself to put them back on as I'm so disappointed. Agree they need further development and perhaps black would be better - I have a dark hob. Certainly not up to Lakeland's usual standard.

It may be helpful to use one of our fine tip freezer markers (reference 2844) to mark out where you need to cut before cutting.

As a fan of the magic oven liner i was keen to give these a try. In the picture they look quite thick, but in reality they are very very flimsy and once cut they just look like a cheap and nasty patchwork quilt on my hob. Would not recommend!
