My husband just can't understand how I can have a favourite wooden spoon, but I have and this is it! I wouldn't even contemplate making the preserves without it and have two:one for chutney and one for jam. It's shape is perfect for making sure you get to every little area of the pan and it's big and sturdy. It even has a great little hook on the back of the handle enabling it to be hooked over the side of the pan. Fantastic item!

This spoon is really good for making chutney where the fruit/veg are more robust than for jam and a lot of stirring is involved. It's a good length and the blade is shaped a bit for scraping the corners of the pan.The hook is a definite plus as the spoon can dangle from the pan handle and the drips go back in the pan. Having laughed at me for buying it, my husband has now 'borrowed' it for wine-making........

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

I couldn't believe the size of this spoon when i unpacked it. It's not exactly delicate or dextrous. I know a sturdy spoon is a must for preserving and the flat end is great but this spoon is just too big to use with ease. The hook is a good idea in principle but I don't want my spoon to cook with my preserve nor do i want drips on the hob. I wish you could find or make a scaled down model. I had a wooden spoon that from years of use had formed a corner and flat edge but it sadly broke; it's the best shape for a cooking spoon but I can't find one anywhere, except for the giant sized model I bought from you!
