I purchased this thermometer as I had just purchased a brand new double oven. I was having trouble with my cakes cooking properly they were taking ages to cook. I called in the Manufacturer who sent an engineer. The engineer had two small gauges which proved the ovens were not coming up to temperature but I could not read them as they were too small. I decided to buy the thermometer from Lakeland. The end of the story is the Manufacturer changed the ovens as they were faulty and could not be repaired. The new ovens are fine but I alway use this wonderful gauge just to make sure the ovens are the correct heat. Well done Lakeland!

There is not much to review here, as this product really only has one purpose - to tell you the temperature of your oven. In this respect, and assuming the displayed temperature is accurate, it does a very good job. The unit is solidly built and has a nice notched 'hook' to firmly secure it from an oven shelf. The display is large and very clear, so even if it is at the back of the oven you can easily read it.
Since using it, I have noticed that my oven is about 10-15 deg C below the temperature the built-in gauge displays, so this thermometer has ensured I cook everything at the correct temperature.

I bought this thermometer because I suspected the poor quality oven in my rented flat was running quite cold. I used it this weekend to bake a cake and proved that the oven is running about 30C colder than the inbuilt thermometer. This emnabled me to tweak the oven temperature and bake my cake perfectly in the time specified in the recipe.
The thermometer is easy to read, even through the brown glass on my oven door. I have it hanging from a shelf, where it is secure, but sometimes I need to flip it up to slide in a baking tray. This is not a great inconvenience!
