We've recently had a new oven and I am still not quite used to its idiosyncrasies. As a result I've had few cakes which looked perfectly well on the outside and then turn out to be undercooked. This tester works a treat - all cakes I've made since I bought it came out just right!

I have had my tester for a couple of years now and would not be without it. It works well on all types of cakes from heavy fruit cakes to rich chocolate, I would not use it for light sponge cakes as spring back when cooked method works well.
