slow cooker cookbook by Helen

Slow Cooker Cookbook

This recipe book is brilliant!! I thought slow cookers were good only for casseroles, until I bought this book. I would never have thought of cooking a curry in my slow cooker but the recipe from this book was the best I have ever made!
This has very quickly become the cookbook I use most often and since buying it our meals have become much more varied and interesting (not just chilli and spag bol every week!). If you have a slow cooker, buy this book. If you don't, buy a slow cooker too!!

Great book by O'Leary

Slow Cooker Cookbook

This book is worth it's price if only for the chicken korma recipe. (I'd tried around 20 recipes before, and none tasted like the real thing.) It's certainly the best book of its type among my huge collection of cookery books.
OK, most of us would never use a slow cooker to make jam or cakes, but most of the other recipes are great.
One reviewer commented about having to change the heat setting halfway through cooking - making it impossible to leave it on and go to work. Most slow cookers now have an Auto setting, which cooks on high for an hour and low for the rest of the time. If not, just leave it on low.
Preparation of ingredients is not something anyone wants to do before work. But a timer on the socket means you can do it all the night before. Easy peasy.

Slow Cooker Cookbook

I have to agree with the review below; this isn't a book for those who want to just make simple 'throw it all in' casseroles (although it does include some of these). The aim was to show how incredibly versatile a slow cooker can be; as well as everyday meals, it makes fabulous cakes and desserts, soups stocks and preserves and uses a fraction of the energy needed when oven-cooking.
It really is worth digging out your slow cooker from the back of the cupboard and giving it another chance (with or without this book)!
(I've given this a 5* rating as I can't submit this review otherwise)!
