“Great Item - shame it cracked.

We love this steamer - have used it regularly for just over a year to cook our rice - unfortunately the base has cracked which is okay if you are really quick when you put water in and once it has heated up the crack does not leak - one day it will though - will have to buy replacement soon - was hoping not to have to as they are not cheap!
A note from the team: Thanks for letting us know about this. Foods with high sugar or fat content can reach very high temperatures in the microwave. Working with our supplier we developed the red microwave saucepan which is slightly more flexible allowing it to withstand these higher temperatures. The red saucepan is also happy in the dishwasher. We'll be in touch about a replacement.

“Green one was better

I agree with a previous reviewer in that the green steamer was a better product but the basket did start to discolour over time hence I decided to buy this one. I find this one more difficult to lift out of the microwave when hot and the lid is virtually impossible to lift off without burning your fingers. Oven gloves enabled me to lift the steamer out of the microwave but were no use with the lid.

“oops cracked again

Use mine for cooking potatoes in micro. Lost cooking instructions for rice which were kindly sent to me on request. Cooked rice great but outer bowl has cracked. Have stuck it with superglue which works but I'm vary wary now of taking hot dish from microwave. Plastic could do with being a bit stronger, then product would be fantastic. Cheese grater has same problem with outer tub cracking (also stuck with superglue) but feel guilty sending back for a second time.
