“Great Item - shame it cracked.

We love this steamer - have used it regularly for just over a year to cook our rice - unfortunately the base has cracked which is okay if you are really quick when you put water in and once it has heated up the crack does not leak - one day it will though - will have to buy replacement soon - was hoping not to have to as they are not cheap!
A note from the team: Thanks for letting us know about this. Foods with high sugar or fat content can reach very high temperatures in the microwave. Working with our supplier we developed the red microwave saucepan which is slightly more flexible allowing it to withstand these higher temperatures. The red saucepan is also happy in the dishwasher. We'll be in touch about a replacement.

“Does the job - but cracks.

I'm on the second one of these, as I had to take the first one back to the store I bought it from after less than a year. It had cracked badly on the base of the outer bowl, and leaked boiling hot water every time I used it. The store told me I should only put it in the top rack of my dishwasher - which was all I had ever done! This one has probably been in my dishwasher six times and it has still cracked. So, if it isn't dishwasher safe then it shouldn't be marked as such. And as other reviewers have also noted that it cracks, perhaps it isn't microwave safe either. Sorry, I'm NOT impressed.

“Green one was better

I agree with a previous reviewer in that the green steamer was a better product but the basket did start to discolour over time hence I decided to buy this one. I find this one more difficult to lift out of the microwave when hot and the lid is virtually impossible to lift off without burning your fingers. Oven gloves enabled me to lift the steamer out of the microwave but were no use with the lid.
