“Really good until it cracked
”

Great for cooking rice until it cracked, leaving our microwave flooded with boiling water. This does seem to be a common problem as my mum's cracked as well - what a shame!

“Great but they do crack (and be careful!)

This steamer cooks rice perfectly every time. I use mine often. I'm going to buy a new one as, like other reviewers, mine has cracked and now leaks. I'm lost without it though so happy to buy another one, and perhaps a back up too! A word of warning - ALWAYS use oven gloves to remove this from the microwave and remove the lid with extreme care as the steam gets VERY hot.

“Shame about the base!
”

Steamer was great to use but unfortunately the base has cracked despite not being used that often . This seems to be a common complaint. Is there a better base available ? Julie

“cracked & leaking

I was looking to purchase a new steamer as ours has cracked & leaks, Having seen this problem is not unique I may re-consider......shame as it was great for a short while.

“Great idea - shame it's cracked

I was introduced to this item by a friend who swore by it, & I had to have one! I love it as it makes cooking rice so simple & mess-free, although I haven't tried adding other ingredients during cooking in case it damaged the plastic. I am disappointed that despite taking care, it has cracked after only six months of moderate use. It looks from these reviews that unfortunately this is quite common, so I can't give it more stars. I'm hooked on the idea, so I'll have to replace it, but might try the red one next time.

“Multi Steamer

I love my multi steamer but it has cracked. I checked your website to see if it is still available so i can purchase another although i have not had it a year yet. I saw from the other reviews that this appears to be a common problem. I will try the new red version next time and hope this lasts longer.

“Good but needs replacing

This steamer has served me well for a year or so, purely for vegetable steaming. But I have noticed many cracks all over the bottom just like the other reviews have said. Before it starts leaking I am replacing it, I don't want an accident in the microwave! I do believe it should have lasted a while longer than it did as I have only put it into the dishwasher about twice in its lifetime! Always washed it by hand instead. Oh well. :)

“Another cracked bowl
”

I was just going to order a replacement microwave steamer because the bowl of mine has cracked. After reading the other reviews I realise that this is a common occurrence. I will therefore not order a replacement. Seems disappointing and is the first time I have not been satisfied with an item. However, I will still be placing an order for another food flask as this has been very popular with my son.

“Great shame it cracked!! Lost without it!

Have used this regularly for rice for just under a year, cracks started to appear about a month ago, I used it last week and to my horror it completely cracked down the outer layer, covering my microwave in hot starchy water! I've always hand washed it, and am completely gutted its cracked so badly especially whilst in the microwave!

“Perfect Rice Every Time

I think this steamer is an absolutely brilliant addition to the kitchen, particularly for cooking rice. I always use to end up with soggy, overdone rice. With this, you put in the rice, add just enough cold water to cover it and then microwave on full power for 12 minutes and the rice is just spot on. Obviously, it will vary depending on the type of rice and the microwave. The only disappointing feature is that the inner, draining bowl seemed to disintegrate after one year, so I am just about to buy another. But I have to have one!

“Does the job - but cracks.

I'm on the second one of these, as I had to take the first one back to the store I bought it from after less than a year. It had cracked badly on the base of the outer bowl, and leaked boiling hot water every time I used it. The store told me I should only put it in the top rack of my dishwasher - which was all I had ever done! This one has probably been in my dishwasher six times and it has still cracked. So, if it isn't dishwasher safe then it shouldn't be marked as such. And as other reviewers have also noted that it cracks, perhaps it isn't microwave safe either. Sorry, I'm NOT impressed.

Working with our supplier we developed the red microwave steamer which is slightly more flexible allowing it to withstand these higher temperatures. We'll be in touch to help.
“What to do now?

Came online to buy a new steamer to replace my Lakeland cracked one and was dissappointed to see it seems to have a fault. Only had it 6 months and there is a crack on the inner and outer parts - unsure what do do now? Has this problem been recified? Is there a better alternative? Have been really pleased with this product untill now.

“Great Item - shame it cracked.

We love this steamer - have used it regularly for just over a year to cook our rice - unfortunately the base has cracked which is okay if you are really quick when you put water in and once it has heated up the crack does not leak - one day it will though - will have to buy replacement soon - was hoping not to have to as they are not cheap!

“Brilliant - perfect rice every time
”

I love this product. I have had mine for several years and use it constantly. It is especially useful for cooking basmati rice - perfect every time. I also use it to steam vegetables. As with other reviewers, a crack has appeared in the centre of the base of the outer pan, but it isn't leaking and I'm still using it all the time. Incredibly good value for money and I won't hesitate to buy another one if and when this one gives up the ghost!

“A brilliant discovery!

Finding myself without a cooker for some months and only having my microwave and branded grilling machine, I found this steamer, and what a find! I hardly used the microwave over 15 years thinking you couldn't do in a microwave what this pot does. Really excellent. Six months on, no cracks. And the lid is going to be used long after I get a new cooker for heating food on plates and in bowls. No more clingfilm! And the little lidded saucepan is equally first class.

“Perfect solution but cracked
”

I have used my steamer several times and cooking rice is simple, perfect and quick but unfortunately the outer bowl has now cracked and I would have expected this to have lasted longer than just using half a dozen or so times

Was just about to buy a new steamer as mine has cracked on the base and thought it was my husbands fault! Read the reviews and now I won't bother, I'd better apologise to my husband also!! Also the lid handle needs looked at as you can't get a hold of it (too small with no lip to hold) with oven gloves on so burn my fingers quite often opening it.

“Multi Steamer

The first one I bought from you lasted several months before cracks appeared. You replaced this without any trouble but I am afraid the second has now suddenly developed cracks. I say suddenly because they came all at once whilst steaming potatoes. All the water (2 or 3 tablespoons) had leaked and was bouncing around on the microwave plate. There were six cracks in all two of which were quite severe. I have a photo which shows the cracks if it is of any use to you for the manufacturers.

“Fantastic if it didn't crack - disappointing
”

Although having bought this a few months ago I have only just adjusted myself to using for veg and rice. I am impressed at how much easier it is and how well the veg is cooked without the hassle of boiling and draining, rice comes out much fluffier than boiling without keeping an eye on it from boiling over. However after only 2 weeks worth of use the bottom bowl has cracked which means it now leaks the water out. Would be better if the plastic were stronger.
