I bought my Bamix from Lakeland two years ago and have really tried with it, but it's been disappointing. Thick cake mixes, frosting, mashed potatoes - it struggles with them all and gets so hot I have to let it cool down before continuing. The only thing it seems to cope with is thin batters. The final straw came recently when I tried to whisk egg whites. After three attempts that stayed completely liquid, I popped out and bought an £11.99 electric hand whisk which did the job first time. Bamix is going back in the box unfortunately. Very disappointing.

Had this a few months (bought from shop) and in that time kept trying it. I've found it can't beat eggs, doesn't mix right and I seriously do not like it. I was really happy to finally get one but I've used it less and less and finally given up on it. Plus the fact when you use it it is really hot after only using couple of minutes, which I find can't use after using for only 5 mins, as too hot to use.

I am so upset!!”
I have been wanting a Bamix for around 8 years. Yesterday I bought one. I got it out this morning to make a cheesecake. First disappointment was that there is no easy way to crush a pack of biscuits. So I got out my food processor, job done! I then put cream cheese, sugar and sour cream in a bowl and again turned to the bamix. I tried all three blades which all moved but the mixture didn't, unless I used the stick to mix it! So I used my 24 year old handheld whisk. The bamix is going back tomorrow! Thank you Lakeland and your returns policy!

My husband got me this for Christmas since my old stickblender is on it's last legs. I was really excited at first thinking he had got me something really good. But it's so disappointing. It keeps tipping over if I don't put it back in the stand, and it just takes so long to purée things compared to my old one. (Which I still have and use when my husband is not around.) I find it very heavy and difficult to hold, and I believe it will be easy to cut your fingers off. I tried to make mayo with it today and it was just slopp, so threw it away and used my old one with great result.

Wow - my best kitchen appliance ever!”

Unable to afford a Vitamix, I opted to try this out and was not disappointed! Powerful, beautiful design - I bought red model. Blends soups, creams cake ingredients, chops garlic, grinds spices, nuts and seeds. I've made smoothies with soft fruits & leaves: kiwi, cucumber, celery (pre-chopped small), ripe pears, spinach, grapes, alfalfa sprouts, mango, pineapple, watercress - you MUST add water though. Even though I remove and wash blades after every use, i’m still finding removing the blades quite stiff, and i’m pretty strong handed. The benefits far, far outweigh this difficulty :)

Really wanted this, despite the price, as soemthing that was well made and would do a good job. Maybe it was just my one, but it was horribly underpowered. Failed to really blend soup or whisk an egg. In fact I accidentally blended my finger while trying to change blades. It cut me, but not badly. Was too top heavy and since you can't remove bottom part, you had to hold it with one hand as you added ingredients. And whizzing it in hot water wasn't enough to clean the blades, so i had to soak it in the sink, with the cable carefully placed away from the water. Returned with a heavy heart

Well I finally upgraded to the Bamix and must say pleasantly suprised. However, I cannot believe that the stick and its attachments are fixed and have to be cleaned together with the wand. What that means is that physically you have to take the whole apparatus to the sink to wash. Clumbersome and quite dangerous and since it's adviseable to disconnect at the mains before hand, proves to be quite a performance when all you want to do is to rinse the blade attachment. Not happy.

We have a bamix for over 20 years and use it at least once a week and it is still going strong.

Thought this would solve all my previous retail mistakes, but it didn't. Looked lovely and neat on the worktop although I would have preferred a choice of colour as I do not have any blue in my kitchen. However, I found it very messy when using with any kind of container or bowl. I even devised a splash guard from an old storage container lid but this did not prevent the spray of food. I did not think the grinder particulary good, not fine enough. There was a good side: it was very easy to wash. Fortunately Lakeland has come to my rescue with their returns policy.

The best hand blender EVER! I thought it was so great we got rid of our food mixer & use it for everything - it gets used several times a week & works perfectly on everything we have used it on. Although we weren't able to blend skimmed milk into 'cream' - maybe we didn't blend for long enough?

My favourite kitchen gadget”
This is my favourite and most used kitchen gadget. The mill I use daily to grind coffee, spices, nuts (much nicer flavour to freshly grind whole nuts than buy preground for baking and cheaper) and turn granulated sugar into caster or icing sugar. Salsas, batters, mayonnaise, purees, smoothies and soups all made in seconds. Very easy to clean.Much easier than my old stick blender and food processor. I run it in hot soapy water then unplug and wipe the body of the bamix with a damp cloth. I've got rid of my coffee and spice grinders, food processor and blender. I can't praise it highly enough

I'm very pleased with this product. It does everything I had hoped it would do. My only query is - why is the grater so small?
Published 02 03 2012
A note from the team: Thank you for placing your review. We've looked at the grater and agree it's quite small. However, we understand it's designed to be compact in line with the attachment range that come with the Bamix. I hope this helps.
Amazing product !”
I remember my mother buying a Bamix at the Ideal Home Exhibition in the late 1960's and she used it for over 30 years. I recently bought my own and have been absolutely delighted to rediscover that it hasn't lost its magic. I simply cannot understand the comments here about it being hard to clean - just rinse it under the tap ! Similarly, the comments about it being cumbersome, difficult to use etc. It is a beautifully designed and engineered piece of equipment which does exactly what it says on the tin ! Please don't be put off by the negative remarks - this is a must have for any kitchen.

This is my most used kitchen tool”
I can't imagine my kitchen without my trusted Bamix. It is so much more practical than a food processor or blender for most jobs, so much less washing up! Having it on the worktop is a key for me, I use my food processor and kitchen aid very rarely these days. For those of you who were/are disappointed with it, please persevere and check out the demonstration videos. You really need to see it in action to know what it can do for you. The clear plastic grinder (bought to replace the wet/dry mill) is a disappointment though, the bearing seized up on first use, and the grinding is not as good!

I was extremely disappointed with this blender - having promised myself "the best". Its performance failed to live up to my expectations, it was cumbersome and difficult to clean. Am now sticking with my Kenwood chef and hand mixer. Massive thanks to Lakeland for their "no quibble" guarantee which I can confirm really is "no quibble"!

Bought my Bamix some years ago but am aware I've not used it to it's full potential. Saw a demo at a food show which rekindled my interest. Made the most delicious smoothie today from rather sad looking leftover strawberries, some stewed apricots, a spoonful of Greek Easiyo and a dash of skimmed milk. Mashed the fruit first in the Bamix beaker on low speed then added the dairy and switched to full speed. Quick and easy, healthy (I think!) and so delicious. Bamix, I love you all over again and promise to use you much more frequently.

BAMIX DE LUXE”
by Mrs Hamilton
I am really pleased with this product but I have one complaint. Every time I use the mincer attachment I cannot detach it from the wand as it is too tight. Don't have a problem with any of the other attachments. Bought the SliceSy to go with it but not impressed with that and seriously thinking of taking it back as I understand there is a no quibble guarantee.

I love my Bamix, it is used almost daily, to the extent I rarely use my Magimix. It is a breeze to clean, stick the end in a beaker of water with a drop of washing up liquid, switch on and it's done. The heads are very easy to change (maybe not so easy for someone with large fingers!) and it is very powerful. So easy to make mayonnaise with no need to drizzle in oil. It is expensive but with the manufacturers guarantee is definately worth the money.

I love this”
by stephen lewington
You can't believe how versatile this is. Having bought it I now manage to make custard that doesn't split, mayonnaise that doesn't split, and the motor is so powerful that it whisks/beats less runny liquids with ease - the kind of mixtures that have broken my last 2 cheaper stick blenders. As it's out all the time on it's stand, it's just picked up and used most days - sauces, blending soups even foaming milk for hot chocolate and coffee. If you cook a lot, it'll be worth the cash.

Sorry I spent so much money on this. It is heavy, difficult to clean and no better than the one my daughter-in-law paid £7 for in a supermarket! I was given a rave review of it by one of the staff in store and this adds to my disappointment as until now I have felt the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Perhaps I am being too critical but at the price you would expect something exceptional.
